Wheel Hop

Is it just me or do our cars wheel-hop too easily? I can be taking off super-granny slow and if the car hits that white strip by the stop signs, etc.... it will start to hop a little. I know the car has the clutch shudder and stuff, but I know the difference between the two.

Guess I need motor mounts? That would cure wheel hop right?

motor mounts is the fix :D

or you can remove the stock ones and fill them yourself. I'll be doing this to the side mounts on the MSP shortly

Get yourself an SLS front mount. Before installation make sure the bolts are welded so they do not spin (if not done so already). It will not vibrate the crap out of you when sitting at a light, but gives you better throttle response. I believe the design is plenty strong as I had my bolts loose for a bit and the mount could move! It also been through 3 AutoXing events. I am not totally sold on the side mounts as they are mainly there for support.

It's because you have a 22v. It cannot control the extra power that they have!

That's not wheel hop, That's sounds more like Bald tires...

Wheel hop is more of a lurch during launch....Clutch chatter is like you just started driving a stick and can't figure it out...

Check your tire pressure as well. That happens to me when I get upwards of 38psi.

OK...My pro5 is doing the wheel hop/clutch chatter too. Is there a way to figure out the reason other than guessing?
The problem only occurs at taking off and gets worse once it start to happen and happen more if I'm in a stop and go traffic.
I really don't wanna spend a whole bunch on changing clutch, so I think maybe I should try changing the motor mount first? How much will it cost?

I just check the inflation of my tire last week and it should be fine.
If the bolts are welded you can never take it off right?
Will it cause any vibration?
How about labor? For front motor mount should be easy for them right?
Do I need to worry about the ones in the back?

Wow...I really have lots of questions...

My tires arent bald, and theyre at 32lbs (actually need air).

I was going to get all AWR mounts when I got the $$$ so......

AWR > SLS

Im sorry but the design of the SLS mounts is not very well done. Im running a SU front mount and love it.

Is there a way I can tell if I should replace my motor mount? Or the stock one shouldn't even be there b/c it sucks?
I have a 88k P5 with the stock motor mount.

you can tell by pulling the motor mount out and checking it....but at that point you've already gone through the trouble so why not replace it?
