Wheel Help

I purchased a set of 17x7 +40 wheels. They fit now, but I am planning on lowering in the near future and was informed that they would rub if I did so. I have heard about using wheel spacers to correct this problem without buying new wheels. Does anybody know about this? Is it a good/bad idea?

If I were you I'd PM ARD MP5. He knows all the info you need and can sell you what you will need to get it right. He's done a lot of work to make things fit our cars.

don't worry about it...

If the wheel is 7 inches wide, and it's a plus 40 offset, spacers shouldn't be necessary. I think spacers are usually overused as a solution to rubbing, most rubbing issues can be resolved using other methods.

Anytime you drop a car and slap on big wheels (and tires of course), a little bit of rubbing should be expected. It's not the end of the world, it's annoying more than anything else.

The best advice I could give would be to make sure you don't SLAM the car, and if you do, get shocks that can support it! My last car rubbed a lot, but when I got aftermarket shocks, the rubbing stopped (well, about 95% of the rubbing was eliminated). The best part was I could still tuck my rims when I dropped the car at shows :)

Anyways, good luck.

Great thing is that our suspension is already great from the factory, so rubbing should already be at a minimum since we have the thick sway bars. If you are actually thinking of slamming your car, then the factory Tokico won't last too long. Our Tokico's are only good for a 1.5 inch drop from factory stance before they start getting over worked and eventually give. Of course that is what Tokico says.

What are you gonna do with ur stock wheels? I am looking for another set or just 2 if I can find them.I have curb check on 2 of them. 1 was my fault and 1 was my fathers:eek: If anyone on the board has any or knows of some that would be cool..I like the rims the MP3 comes with, so thats why I am not thinkin aftermarket. Thanks,
Pete

Spacers will not help your situation. With a +40 offset, you are rubbing or will rub the outside fender, not the inner strut assembly. Spacers will only make your situation worse. You should have gotton more info before going out and buying rims. On a seven inch wide rim, you really should have a +45 offset.
