wheel bearing? i hear moaning sounds on 5th

my car makes a moaning sound when im on the freeway going above 60mph
it gets louder as i go faster, and only occurs while im in 5th gear
there are no moaning sounds when im in neutral, 4th, etc

If it does it should be a wheel bearing...I had that sound few week ago before changing my wheel bearing, you start hearing the noise after 60mph.

I have this sound..... how do I know which wheel bearing it is ???? I have not replaced any on my car ever ...and am looking to get it back into the shape it should be in ... and get all the noises out that should not be there...

How diffucult is it to change this bearing ??

please help if any one can.

def. not a wheel bearing if it only makes the sound in one gear.

The wheel bearings on our P5's suck and you definitely know when they are going out and you would hear it through all gears not just 5th so I suspect its a trany issue.

There are two Wheel bearing write-up's in the How to section. The one farther down in the list on the sticky is the better of the two with more pictures. You WILL need a 12 ton press to do the wheel bearing job correctly. And if you do decide to do the wheel bearings, absolutely do not use the seal the parts shop will try to sell you for the back of the hub. Mazda discontinued putting these in because of the stupid drain hole they designed into the hub would trap dirt and debris and ruin the bearings.
