What's your poison?

So my brother has decided he wanted to get a car that he can not only use on an almost consistent basis but also use as a track car.

What ideas do you all have for a good daily driven possible tracker?

WRX?
MSP?
MK1 or MK2 MR2?
Mini Cooper-S?
RSX-S?
S2k?
RX8?
etc. etc. etc.

What's your poison? What would YOU choose?

I'm sure eventually as with all other projects this will become a full time tracker. But for time being it'd have to serve both purposes. What do you all think?

1st gen Miata or Protege, or an old CRX. If he has enough money to buy any of those cars you listed, I'd say buy one of the cars I just mentioned or something similair and buy a newer, nicer, more docile car for a DD.

Agreed...both great choices for dailies and occasional track...

If he can find an unmolested CRX, he should also invest in some lottery tickets. :D

Every time I see one rusted and barely running, I cry a little for the track-dog that could have been.

Well we have a good amount of cash to work with.

And we already have a few older beaters that are just projects at the moment. That's why most of the things on the list were newer vehicles. We've taken a little shining to the new Si as it's almost a little diamond in the rough.

Dunno though. All suggestions have been great but let me ask WHY have each of you chosen the respective vehicle? What's your resoning behind your choice?

Well the S2k has a light body with 250hp. RWD is a plus and with a few mods it can really fly. Also for the money it is an excellent choice. And the Evo I think we all know why. Just watch the top gear video testing the MR with the STI. Around the track the STI wasn't even as good as the regular evo. Plus with a forged motor and 280hp with AWD the car is a beast.

The next trend in "tuning" is going to be that Honda FiT, so many possibilities for that. I myself would probably get an Evo.

Well, I was rethinking my choice of the Cooper S, and damn if I don't miss the ole SRT-4. For $25,000 you can get 300 whp, fully adjustable suspension and lighten it up quite a bit. full cage and stripped interior, heck, you can buy the factory backed T2 cars right now for $24,000 with spares. If you started with a high mile car or a salvaged title, you would be into it less than $15,000 race loaded and street legal.

Well,after seeing a lot of BMI races(DVDs a plenty,lol) now,I'd take an FD,take out the turbos and drop in a 3rd...maybe even a 4th rotor(depending what I was taking on)...that's badass!!

...either that or an S2K or Evo,haha!
