What's the best Stubby Antenna to buy?

If radio reception isn't an issue, buy whatever is cheapest. If it is buy an OEM antenna from a Honda CRV or any of the other makes that have them. If you look around there are several vehicles using shorter antennas.

Stubby Antenna

I just bought this one on eBay for my Mazda 3. The nice thing about this one is that it extends and retracts when needed. You get the look and the function. ;)

the s2000 on is a good option if you're concerned with keeping your reception. if not, then those cheap billet aluminum/carbon fiber ones off ebay work just fine

Lol that's basically what i got Brian a 35mm carbon fiber stubby antenna except i got it from Amazon im still waiting for it actually

Not sue about other makes but the s2000 and cx7 match up with the base very well. I have the cx7 myself.

I just got my new 35 mm Stubby antenna today i have to say im really disappointed plus it doesn't fit and its late bad reviews for the guy at Amazon!

I listen to the radio sometimes, so reception is important to me. JMBaggie recommended the Mazda3 antenna. I'll let everyone know how it fits when I get it on my car.

Radio is Stupid.

Bad Quality Sound and you get to hear all the s*** that you don't want to...

I put the Mazda3 antenna on my car today. It looks good, and the radio still works well (and before Brian says anything else, I have a nice stereo for listening to music, but sometimes I like to get my news from NPR or hear new music on the college stations). Radio haters aside, the reception is good and the looks are exactly what I was looking for (about 1/2 to 1/3 the length of stock).
The downside: it's a little pricey at $40 shipped from Montgomery Mazda. OEM quality is worth it to me, but I bet you could get a comparable OEM piece for half the price if you search.

When I tried out a shorter antenna, I went with the CX-7 one...which is probably similar to the Mazda3 one, if not the same. My reception was noticeably worse for certain talk radio stations I listen to in town. Was bummed about it since the look was better.

For the Cost issue of the Mazda 3 Antenna...

There are literally thousands of free ones in parking lots all around the world...

Holy $hit! If it's basically the same as the CX-7 then prices have doubled. I bought my CX-7 from Jason at OMP for around $20 shipped a few years ago.

(rlaugh) Thanks Brian!

Hey, this may sound like a dumb question, but how do you replace the radio antenna on the Protege5 ?

Mine is fine except the trim for the antenna is dry rotted and cracked. I listen to local sports talk radio.
