I am planning to replace my rotors with the Powerslot's from protegegarage.com.

I'd like to get yall's opinion on which brake pads would be best for these rotors. The wrong ones will burn fast and maybe damage my rotors. Tell me what yall think would be best and maybe at a bargan price if possible.

look into hawk brake pads, and check out power slots site, see if they recommend a certain brand over something else. you just gotta see what they say about it all.

When I got my Powerslots the sheet of paper inside said to use it with performance pads and mentioned Hawk by name. I was happy enough with my first set of Hawk HPS so I got them again. I did break off the metal tab that warns when the pads are low, so they wouldn't hurt the rotors.

I've been running Porterfield R4S pads (their performance street pads) on my Miata for about 4 years now and they've been great! I finally replaced them this summer and the rotors still looked great (I didn't replace them). The pads modulate well under heavy braking and are widely used by National level autocrossers because they heat up fast. The only negative with them is the price.

I'm about to order a set of pads and shoes for our Protege DX for street and autocross use.

If you're on a budget, the OEM pads are pretty darn good and you don't have to worry about them hurting your rotors. The pads you wanna worry about are the ones designed for high heat/track use. They eat rotors. Any of the "street" pads won't eat rotors. But I'd recommend sticking with a well known brand (Hawk, Porterfield, Carbotech) if you want to get really good ones.

If you want to learn everything about brake pads, call Carbotech. The guy on the phone is VERY knowledgeable and has been manufacturing brake pads for years.
