I dont have a Mazdaspeed muffler, but I'll just say dont expect too much of a bump in performance from just a muffler. 2-3 hp maybe. As for sound, again, I dont have that brand, so cant tell you. With the CAI, you should def hear a difference. Again, though, there won't be much of a performance boost. Car may rev a bit faster, but that will be about it. Gotta start somewhere though.

I just picked one up it sounds great not loud and ricey at all. It has a deep throaty sound. Not the high pitched crap that you hear when the ricers fly by.

The performance gains arent that great I can feel a but more pull in 1st and 2nd gear. But I think its well worth it over the stock exhaust. I would say get the mazdaspeed axleback and have a muffler shop fabricate some 2.25" piping for the rest of the exhaust u will see more gains then.

I have that. I have noticed a little more torque, but I have a K&N drop in filter also so breathing in and out is somewhat better overall. Mostly it's louder. And at least on my 2003, it is a fair bit louder inside the car than outside. If you like quiet rides stick with stock. I added a couple layers of sound deadening in the trunk but it only helped a little. It does sound nice though, just louder.

I got a MSP axle-back (on a 2002.5 2.0L) and agree with the other postings. Maybe 2-3 HorsePressures, a tad more torque. It's definitely NOT "ricey" or harsh, sounds nice in town, but if you do lots of long freeway driving, it can get to droning on the old ears.

I find that if you're really, really pushing the car, it helps a bit in acceleration in 3rd to 5th gear.

Esp. above 3500 rpm to redline.

But I've also found that my top speed is 192kph instead of the stock 197kph.

yeah, pretty much , the only thing i got out of it was louder exhaust, but then agian it was designed for the 2.0 not the 1.6, so there could be a differance there..

Thanks guys. I ended up buying Luvsd169's Mazdaspeed axleback. I'll let ya'll know how it works out next week!

big deal, all 3rd gen mufflers are the same. bolt up right on, p5 is the same but a little shorter to accomidate the shorter length of the car.

and also whoever said 3-5hp, yeah right, maybe 1/2 (thats right .5)hp.

id have to agree with hi-perf ,, i didnt get any performance out of it....A kandn filter did give me a lil bit of performance... thats about it..

Hey guys. I had the muffler installed yesterday, and I'm pretty pleased. When the car is in idle, you hear a nice deep rumble. When revving under about 3.5k rpm, the exhaust sounds very deep and full, especially as the rpms return back down. Once I rev into higher rpms or drive at a constant in-town speed, it sounds like a slightly louder stock exhaust, which is good, since I didn't want a loud, annoying exhaust while driving at a constant speed.

I just have one question... basically, my car's acceleration has changed. When I would be traveling at about 35 miles per hour, with my stock exhaust, and I then would decide to floor it, my car would almost kinda lurch back, and then shoot forward like a rocket. Now, with the MSP exhaust, when I floor it while already being at a constant speed, there is no pause and then shooting forward, but instead, I accelerate forward more constantly but seemingly at a slower speed. What's happening?

Thanks.
