What is this noise?

Ok, so for a few months my car has been making a weird "gurgle" noise. I've tried to track it down with no luck. I've pulled off the heatsheld and checked the manifold for cracks or carbon buildup, I've checked all my connections and made sure that all pipes are tight. I just don't know where else to look.

My best guess is that it's the CAT but I don't want to rush over to Minute Muffler for a new CAT. I'm currently running 1 High-flow Magnaflow CAT on a 2.5" custom midpipe and a Greddy SP2 Catback exhaust.

I'm sure there has to be at least one person here who has heard this before and figured it out.

Any suggestions??

Thanks!!

That was my first guess but other people are telling me that it might be a gasket.

As in a leaky gasket???
There pretty cheap replace them just to make sure. Also in response to the cat does it only do this when the car is cold, or does it happen all the time?

Well i just bought my MSP recently and i notice that i'm having the same problem. There is that same sound comming from my header. I havent check it out but evey time i rev up the engine there is that clink clink clink sound from the header. I have Greddy SP2 Catback exhaust system but have the cat remove its just a straight pipe to the 2 resanator to the exaust. (maybe because i'm missing a cat?) If any one knows what the solution to this proble is plz help. ^_^

I noticed that one of the bolts to the manifold-turbo was loose so I tightened it and it's not doing it as much so I'm putting my money on a leaky gasket. Is there a "how-to" for replacing gaskets? I did a search but found nothing.

Thanks!!

sounds like mine when its cold, once the engine gets to normal operating temps its all good

sounds like an exhaust leak. make sure you have the gaskets in. if you do already, get thicker gaskets. also, it could be leaking from the exhaust manifold... tighten those bolts... replace if any are missing.

Yea, its an exhaust leak for sure.. Time to find out where though..

thats what my msp sounds like. but i have a BIG crack in the center of my manifold, and a second smaller crack beside the big one (bang)

yup mine too only when cold. thats because the mani heats up and expands causing the leaks to close up. i took the shield off and noticed one bolt was missing on the manifold. put it back together and still heard the damn noise so i looked for carbon buildup around the whole mani and found black carbon by where the mani meats the engine so i am assuming it needs a new gasket. no rush on that tho.

hmmm i dont know...I have no leaks or cracks..100% just confirmed too and mine sounds like that when the exhaust is cold, if I dont warm up my car for long enough when its -30
