So far all these theories are mere conjecture. As others have pointed out. My take on it with my experience owning this vehicle is the same as any other I have owned. Take care of it, and it will take care of you, in the form of a long and uneventful service life.
True, I did have a purge solenoid valve failure, and the dealership's less than perfect staff shotgunned it with parts to figure it out, but in essence, there have been very few mechanical issues. I am sitting at 45,000 miles, which includes lots of part throttle and low rpm boost. Not excessive beating on it mind you, but I am certainly not shy on the throttle in the least. I know there are several of these cars running around with close to 100,000 miles with zero internal engine failures. Take that as you will.
