What is the main cause of engine failure?

So far all these theories are mere conjecture. As others have pointed out. My take on it with my experience owning this vehicle is the same as any other I have owned. Take care of it, and it will take care of you, in the form of a long and uneventful service life.

True, I did have a purge solenoid valve failure, and the dealership's less than perfect staff shotgunned it with parts to figure it out, but in essence, there have been very few mechanical issues. I am sitting at 45,000 miles, which includes lots of part throttle and low rpm boost. Not excessive beating on it mind you, but I am certainly not shy on the throttle in the least. I know there are several of these cars running around with close to 100,000 miles with zero internal engine failures. Take that as you will.

Engine Failure

The only problem I've had is a Turbo being replaced at 38,000 miles, it smoked for the last 6,000 miles,(Wondering if this caused problems?) the dealer changed the oil to 5w-40 for that time, until they finally replaced the turbo this last tuesday.

Also seems there is a lot of pressure at idle when opening the oil fill cap, with the old turbo, new turbo there is still pressure with a little oil mixed in not as much as before. I had the dealer start a 2010, and there was vacuum, no pressure, haven't tried a CX-7 yet...

Dealers mechanic say's "All the engines seem to have pressure at idle, (MS3, MS6, & CX-7. In all my years working on my own stuff, when there is pressure at idle not vacuum, there is usually a problem. Example if there is oil burning smell and blue smoke, with pressure, you know there is a valve problem or rings, turbocharged cars seem to like to push pressure pass the rings.

My car is stock, I haven't done a single modification, and I am thinking about doing the COBB PVC fix for these cars, to see if I can get vacuum at idle. Also planning on doing a compression check, and leak down test.

As for racing, I had a 65 Olds 442 (455), at 67 SS Chevelle (396), and a 67 RS/SS Camaro (327) I raced on Van Nuys Blvd, back in the early 70's, and still couldn't beat the Silver Corevette, with the Finest Blond, (10.5 on 1-10 scale) her license plate frame said, "If you beat me, you can eat me".
