What is the best Mattress?

We just got back from Select Comfort in the mall and tried out the 5000, 7000, 9000. My wife and I didn't like the 5000 as much as the 7000 but we really liked the 9000. Definitely pricey. My wife still likes the Sterns & Foster Plaza Baroque the best but you'll never know if you really like it after you have slept in it a couple of nights. Who knows if you might get tired of the softness or firmness someday. I like the fact that with the Select Comfort bed, we have a 30 day guarentee where you could return it if we are not 100% satisfied. I also like how it can be adjusted whenever you want. It's almost like having a different bed every night. Where other beds can sag, the firmness on this one can be increased. I might actually go for it. Just debating on the 7000 or 9000.

My wife and I have had the Select Comfort 5000 for about a year now. We like it pretty well. It uses an air bladder that can be inflated or deflated to increase or decrease firmness. They can be a bit pricey but there are no springs in the mattress to wear out so it should last a lot longer as well.

My fiance and I bought a "Serta Perfect Sleeper" about 6 months ago. SOOO damn cumfy, way better than the temprapedic. It was a king size and cost us about $1500.

Totally worth it! So so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so damn comfurtable!

OK so maybe we have the 7000. I know we bought the middle grade Select Comfort bed whichever one that is. I was thinking the models were the 3/5/7000. We felt exactly the way you did about the beds. The 9000 is VERY nice but $$$$. We decided to get the 7000 because we liked it and we thought we could get it to feel like a 9000 by getting a nice thick down or pillowtop mattress cover. Haven't done it yet though. I think I need to play with the sleep number, my back has been hurting when I wake up the last couple of days. I like our bed very much and I'm glad we got it, but it hasn't cured my backaches completely which was the main reason I wanted to get it.

What was your sleep number? On the 7000, I was pretty comfortable at around 45 or 50. The funny thing is, I think that is pretty common for everyone. BTW, did you put yours together or did you have assembled? If you did it, was it hard?

Like someone already said, Simmons Beautyrest, Serta perfect Sleeper, or Sealy Posturepedic.

I have a Beautyrest World Class Cashmere pillow top and it rocks.

Yeah these rule...my buddy sells them and they have the highest comfortable/affodable ratio. I am getting a full for 300 because he works there!! Yay!!! SPACE FOAM!!!(headbang)

Sorry I've been away from the computer a little while. Actually my wife put the bed together (by herself) when I was at work. She didn't say there was anything tricky about assembling it - pretty straight forward I think. As far as my sleep number is concerned, I generally sleep around 50-55, but last night I set it to 65 and slept great. So I may try it there for a while.

Alright, I took the plunge last night and purchased the 7000. My wife and I decided on the 7000 because the 9000's cushion was so thick that it seemed to defeat the purpose of the air chambers. You had to deflate the air pretty low to finally feel the change. Like you said, we can get a mattress pad later if necessary. Hopefully this bed will make a difference. Thanks.

She didn't say there was anything tricky about assembling it - pretty straight forward I think. As far as my sleep number is concerned, I generally sleep around 50-55, but last night I set it to 65 and slept great. So I may try it there for a while.
