What have you done to your Rotary Mazda Today?

Picked up another Eunos Cosmo...;)

silicone is the preferred way to go... secure it with wireties

you lose the transition from primary to secondary.. but the power comes up later in the rpm range..

Antoine,
Again, assuming your sequential system is similar, there are relatively inexpensive kits available with all the various hose sizes, including a little cutter and zip-ties. They also come in different colors....including black to maintain the stock look.

http://www.hightempsilicone.com/c=h.../results.cgis?catalog=&keywords=rx7&x=18&y=10 If you really want the best, viton is great, but it's pricey.

amp is experienced and knowlegable, so I hesitate to disagree with his choice of non-sequential...but if I could add my .02...IMHO if you intend to use the car for street cruising, keep it. I would really miss my low rpm torque for stop and go around town. Besides, since the Cosmo was strictly JDM, I'm guessing your not dealing with all the emissions crap that we FD owners have (or in my case...had). That means your "rat's nest" of solenoids and check valves is already significantly simpler and with fewer potential issues. If it were my car, I'd find a knowlegable FD guy willing to help replace all the stock rubber with silicone, add the the boost guage, and worry about wiping the stupid grin off my face when I finally had to park it. :)

Thanks for the additional info guys...much appreciated :D

Yeah...I definitely like the sequential setup for the street although the Cosmo just reminded me to be careful with all the low-end torque...I was turning out of a small street on to a larger one and had to get up to speed to match traffic...unfortunately I had not noticed the puddle of water at the end of the small street...long story short...I tap the gas a little harder than normal and I found myself in a spin...luckily I managed to get 'er under control without hitting anything or anyone!

It's interesting...Unlike the 64' Chevelle with a 427 Big Block that I used to own which had enormous amounts of low-end torque but was easy to control...The Cosmo's power feels as if it's coming from the front and the 20B is acting like a jet engine (an awesome sensation BTW)...It doesn't have that traditional rwd feel which is makes sense given the nature of the rotary engine and the seq turbo system...Like many elements about the Eunos Cosmo...even with its generous power output...it manages to do it in a somewhat subtle and refined manner...I have to admit the spin was quite graceful too!

Despite all my rambling...I'm crazy about the car in every way...Non-stop smiles every time I drive it! :D

As for the silicone tip...I had another upgrade "meeting" with my friendly Mazda Dealer guy and I mentioned the silicone upgrade...He definitely agreed that it's a great mod but he basically said it's a pain in the ass to replace all those hoses...Apparently the 20B/EC seq turbo setup is different than the FD's (if I understood him correctly) and also immensely complicated!

Once I get the boost gauge installed...The Mazda dude and I are going to double check the condition of the turbo system since it feels and seems very healthy so far...(thumb) If any hoses need replacing in the future...Then I might drop by Fujita Engineering for the silicone install since they probably do that sort of thing on a daily basis...The Mazda dude said that most of the kits sold in Japan actually come from the states. :)

Took out the engine and transmission in the RX7 yesterday. (rockon) See the thread in my sig...

Didnt really do anything "to my rx7" today but i got my bumper back from the paintshop.

So far im about 75% into my 99 spec front conversion. The 25% is the actual installation which i dont see happening anytime soon because its like 5 degrees outside lol. I most probably still have to wait til spring when i get some consecutive warm days to do this. O well, at least i got the easy part done with the paint and stuff.

That will look nice. And I agree....for painted urethane, you want to wait until ambient outside is 60 F. or warmer, or get the car and bumper cover inside for the install.
Did you get the ducts with it too?

My paint guy said give it about 2-3 weeks to paint to fully cure before you wet it or expose it to the cold weather. He paints exotics for a living so i trust his word. He had a bentley GT coupe at the shop when i picked up my bumper so i will take his word for it lol.

But im just worried about running into a problem, thats the only thing stopping me from pursuing this anytime soon. I dont want the car to be on jackstands, then i run out of daylight and have to stop because its night time and the temp is getting near freezing.

So ill prob just wait til spring when i see constant 50-55 days. Then i can take my time.

No i bought my ducts seperate, as well with my 99 undertray and combo lights. I also have my OEM sidekirts (already painted) sitting in my room so i have a new look this spring :)

I've been looking for a set too. If you don't mind, where did you source them?

I bought them already painted off another forum.

Im assuming you're on 7club correct? You know nick? turbox02? I bought them from him a lonnngggggg time ago, he had already painted it VR and i had to jump on the deal then because i knew i was going for this setup anyway. I had no intention to install the skirts back then because i wanted to wait til i was done with the 99 front which im doing now.

Thanks. And yeah, I'm on the other forum. You just don't see 'em come up very often. Nice find. Post up pics when you get everything installed.

Crankin' away at this damn project. It is soooooo slooooooow going it hurts. I can put about 3 hours into it /night and It looks like I've got nothing done. Tonight I pulled the egi harness on the pass. side and repainted the subframe on the drivers side. There is a s*** ton of corrosion from the brake and clutch masters and it made it to the bottom of the car.
I cleaned up the manual rack and ordered new rod ends so I can take it off jacks and steer it outside

Finally got my front bumper on.

Gotta install coilovers before i put on my side skirts and wheels.

I really dig the look of the last gen FDz...Low km versions in good condition are holding their value well here in Japan...:)

not sure but the passenger side bottom opening for the ic seems off..

It is. When i put the bumper on, i sorta smashed some IC fins and i was like F*CK!!!! So i dremeled the tab that was hitting and i didnt adjust the actual bottom flap yet. Its not a big deal, i guess its just not pleasing to the perfectionists eye :D

Im not one so i dont really care lol

just for reference.. they sell fins straightener for several bucks if youre interested in fixin..
id love to rock that front end looks good... but would be strayin too much away from the cym..

I can't hold a candle to you guys, but I'm stripping my OEM RX-8 wheels and going for the polished look. Tons of work but in the end it'll be worth it.

I was tired of not seeing the road at night, so I replaced my headlights this weekend, got these off ebay, pretty nice for the money.
