Picked up another Eunos Cosmo...
Thanks for the additional info guys...much appreciated
Yeah...I definitely like the sequential setup for the street although the Cosmo just reminded me to be careful with all the low-end torque...I was turning out of a small street on to a larger one and had to get up to speed to match traffic...unfortunately I had not noticed the puddle of water at the end of the small street...long story short...I tap the gas a little harder than normal and I found myself in a spin...luckily I managed to get 'er under control without hitting anything or anyone!
It's interesting...Unlike the 64' Chevelle with a 427 Big Block that I used to own which had enormous amounts of low-end torque but was easy to control...The Cosmo's power feels as if it's coming from the front and the 20B is acting like a jet engine (an awesome sensation BTW)...It doesn't have that traditional rwd feel which is makes sense given the nature of the rotary engine and the seq turbo system...Like many elements about the Eunos Cosmo...even with its generous power output...it manages to do it in a somewhat subtle and refined manner...I have to admit the spin was quite graceful too!
Despite all my rambling...I'm crazy about the car in every way...Non-stop smiles every time I drive it!
As for the silicone tip...I had another upgrade "meeting" with my friendly Mazda Dealer guy and I mentioned the silicone upgrade...He definitely agreed that it's a great mod but he basically said it's a pain in the ass to replace all those hoses...Apparently the 20B/EC seq turbo setup is different than the FD's (if I understood him correctly) and also immensely complicated!
Once I get the boost gauge installed...The Mazda dude and I are going to double check the condition of the turbo system since it feels and seems very healthy so far...(thumb) If any hoses need replacing in the future...Then I might drop by Fujita Engineering for the silicone install since they probably do that sort of thing on a daily basis...The Mazda dude said that most of the kits sold in Japan actually come from the states.
silicone is the preferred way to go... secure it with wireties
you lose the transition from primary to secondary.. but the power comes up later in the rpm range..
Antoine,
Again, assuming your sequential system is similar, there are relatively inexpensive kits available with all the various hose sizes, including a little cutter and zip-ties. They also come in different colors....including black to maintain the stock look.

amp is experienced and knowlegable, so I hesitate to disagree with his choice of non-sequential...but if I could add my .02...IMHO if you intend to use the car for street cruising, keep it. I would really miss my low rpm torque for stop and go around town. Besides, since the Cosmo was strictly JDM, I'm guessing your not dealing with all the emissions crap that we FD owners have (or in my case...had). That means your "rat's nest" of solenoids and check valves is already significantly simpler and with fewer potential issues. If it were my car, I'd find a knowlegable FD guy willing to help replace all the stock rubber with silicone, add the the boost guage, and worry about wiping the stupid grin off my face when I finally had to park it.![]()
