What have you done to your P5 today?

falken 612? did you mean 512? If so those are good tires IMO. Used to work at a tire store and never had any complaints about them. I actually ran their replacement tire, the 912's and they are decent for the money too.

The tread pattern on mine was a little different but they were Falken Ziex for sure. Maybe you are right and I may have had the 512. Didn't like them at all. I now have Nitto NeoGen VR and they are the best tires for rain and dry I ever had but totally useless in the snow and ice.

153807 miles. Replaced ignition coils and wires. Now the car no longer hiccups accelerating out of traffic lights. I also have gotten a p0300 CEL at least once in a month for a while. Original looked like this 2014-07-21 13.41.51resize.jpg I bought new coils on eBay for $17 each including shipping which turned out to be crap. Had to pull over to nearest autoparts store (Autozone) and buy replacements ($25.99 each + tax) on my way to my buddy's house as the car was not drivable with the eBay coils. Turns out that the wire inside the spark plug boot in the eBay coils is really thin and I think that is what made the engine almost jump out of the engine bay and misfire like crazy once warmed up. Cold they were perfectly fine.

Did you have to do anything to get the calipers to fit or do they just bolt on no problem? Also, did you install OEM struts? I see a Mazda sticker on there? Are those Tokico? My originals were Tokico.

They are falken ze612's. They were made for a discount tire direct promo or something. They are 912's with an upsidedown 9.

Do you mean that you did not need to get MZ6 caliper brackets?

those are not mazdaspeed 6 calipers, those are mazda 6 calipers and they came with brackets, regardless which you get as long as it comes with brackets it will bolt on with no modification, you will however need to run with a 17" wheel or bigger (depending on offset)if you get the mazdaspeed 6 calipers

Just took about knuckles, messed up the tie rod ends in the process they just wouldn't budge. Will get bear I v pressed I tomorrow at work, also did right and front motor mounts. Will do the tranny mount hopefully tomorrow as well.

Ordered a new caliper for my passenger front brake due to their being a hole in the piston boot, which is what I believe is causing the caliper to stick a bit and drag. I was made aware of this after noticing that the car was rather sluggish and also that the rotor itself was hot enough to cook eggs when i checked it.

Finally got enough stuff out the way of the back EGR pipe nut to break it loose and get that out and the new one back in place and posed up the the nice new coated OBX header. Got one of the Samco hoses on - the little L shaped one - since old one had to come off to allow sneaking the EGR pipe out and new one back in. Was anyone elses Samco L shaped small hose seem too short compared to oem? This one was just long enough to get clamps on over bulge in pipes on both ends. Also did the TB coolant buypass mod only instead of splicing the 2 ends of the hoses together, I just removed one hose and just looped the other back to where the 2nd one started from since I had all the stuff out of the way on that end of the motor to get EGR pipe out. More stuff going on too.....replace old ground wire kit, replace other 2 new Samco hoses & put in new thermostat while I'm there, put in new transmission inserts, run oil pressure gauge wiring, maybe go with pink JDM radiator cap for autos that's just sittin here all fresh and new, finish the HID fog conversion & probably 1 or 2 other things I've been puttin off. After that will be swapping out the 10 yr old the Maxspeed springs and going back with the new Espelirs / MSP bumpstops sittin here in the box.

So glad to get that EGR pipe off without having to pull intake manifold so the thermal spacer will just have to wait for another time. Might save it and use it to do FSZE intake manifold swap. I have that and the correct egr pipe for it sittin in attic. Would have done the swap now if manifold had to come off to get the old faunky EGR pipe out.

New PowerStop rotors and pads all around, along with new calipers, e-brake adjustment, rear sway bar adjustment to avoid control arm impact and headlight polish/clear coat work.

My P5 is no more. A summer and a half of monday nights on the track finally took its toll on the rusty unibody :(

Luckily the engine will be transplanted into a buddy's msp, but the rest of it will be sent to the crusher.
