What have you done to your P5 today?

Jigga, something is wrong with your alt and it should be swapped out. But yet you seem to defend that nothing is wrong with it. As you know, rebuilt alternators are always a crap shoot, 1 out of 3 are decent. Swap that puppy out or keep getting asked "Is that thing supercharged?".

It's because he doesn't want to swap alternators for a third time, I'd be super annoyed if that happened to me too. In fact I'd probably return it and ask for my money back, iirc rockauto sells brand new alternators for a fair price.

Today I swapped back my front struts because the $16 struts I put on last week were worse than what I had previously (no s***, right?). At the same time I figured it would be a good idea to check my valve clearance because I've been noticing a bit more tap-tap-tap-tap noise at low speed/load + high rpm. They're all within spec, but a couple were close to the limit. At least I don't have to worry about that...

Also, here's why you don't buy the cheapest ignition coils rockauto sells:

I think they were O.E.M. brand, which oddly enough is nowhere near OEM quality. Luckily I kept my old ignition coils so I just reused the boots from those. The rubber on the new ones was very brittle whereas my 10-year-old Mazda boots were still in perfect shape.

hit the nail on the head. im going to double check all the grounds and possibly do the big 3 since that seams to have helped some people. swapping out for the 3rd alt will be the absolute last resort

Any rubbing with 18 inch wheels 215/35zr/18 and eibach spring pro kit? Any other springs I should use instead? Currently I'm on stock springs with 215/35zr/18

+45 offset; 18x7.5 iirc.

So I didn't think this deserved it's own thread. So I am looking at getting a used block to forge but it's a FS-ZE engine, i realize that they are almost identical. But because they have a higher compression piston I didn't know if pistons from a FS-DE would fit properly, mainly the skirt height. I've heard that when they reach TDC the top piston ring would be visible but I'm not sure if there's any truth to that. If anybody has any insight I would love to know, I might have a great deal on a block. And I'm sorry in advance if this sounds dumb.

I believe you are mixing up the fs-ze and the fp-de. The fs-ze should have the same block height, only the fp-de has a shorter deck height, since it has a shorter stroke than the fs-de.

The fs-de pistons should drop in with no problems, let me know if you decide to get the ze, as i will prob buy the pistons off you depending on the condition.

bryan, please tell me you're going to have a skid tray under there... rolling in a spot of water would ruin your engine bay

Cleaned up my wiring at the battery terminals with techflex and installed Hella Supertones. Damn they are loud.

Thanks man, needed to hear that since it's a great deal on the block. Most places around here want around $1200 for a used block. I won't be getting the pistons with it. It's just the block, crank, and head. I think he's got a buyer for the rods and pistons.

ah techflex, it just makes everything that much nicer. The old plastic loom just looks out of place once you start using it more, i like the dinoced optima.

Was hoping no one would notice that. It's pealing up and looks bad since I did it with the battery in the car. Will be redoing it soon.

wheel fitment question... 17x17.5 +45 on 225/40/17... stech and rolled fenders. anyone on a similar setup? will i still have issues?
