What have you done to your P5 today?

I finished up rust proofing yesterday. Pulled all 4 door panels, the trunk/rear area trim, the hatch trim, and douched the ever loving s*** out of the inside of all the body panels. lol Also pulled the kick panels off and squirted a ton in the little holes underneath them.

Yesterday I started pulling the interior apart to remove the roof rack rails,
in the process I found I had a huge lake slowly filling up in my spare tire well.
Pulled the plugs out and let the water drain out, it was a TON of water lol also pulled the spoiler off to wrap it, and removed the rear sprayer nozzle (since I dont have the resovoir anymore).
Today im going to finish up shaving the hatch, wrap the hatch and the spoiler, and maybe get some other stuff wrapped

Yay, the "Leaky P5 Club" has a new member!

You have any idea where it's coming from?

lol No idea, I noticed a little condensation on my wood flooring for a few weeks, but I didnt think it was that bad. This explains all the foggy windows inside the car....
I guess ill sit inside and have somebody hose the outside down so I can find the leak. But now that I think of it, I do still have the holes in the trunk from where the Protege5 emblem used to be...that might be it haha

Today i gutted most of the interior, seats, center console, trim along doors. All to get carpet out. Still unknown where the water leak is coming from. But i strongly believe its from the windshield being improperly sealed. SOB's!

Took out the whole carpet

That doesn't look promising... I found my leak in that exact corner, it turned out being on the firewall but behind the blower motor assembly. There's a seam that's welded together in that area, but they didn't apply enough weld sealer (there was practically none in that area on my car) so it rusted-out pretty fast.

I hope it's your window, but I'm doubting it. Your best bet is to leave a hose running in different places until you see water trickling inside the car.

btw, your pics all seem to be thumbnails, are there bigger pics available somewhere?

one side is definitely the windshield, drivers side. rust instead of sealant. Anyone fix this on their own like remove the windshield and clean then reseal?

The second one is unknown how it got to the back of the passenger seat. that was the most soaked. i can squeeze padding and water will just pour out. I dont know. For now carpet stays out until i see where the water is coming from. Cleaned up with some lysol inside car to get rid of mold smell. that stunk bad. right now got driver and passenger seats, shift knob and seatbelts attached. everything else is gonna sit out.

better pics i hope of gutted interior

What did you use to rust proof?

Mine pooled in the back because I park on an incline. But other people have had water pool in the back from a leak in the front; perhaps P5's are a little lower in the back?

btw, enjoy driving your car in "race mode" :D

Hopefully the gate guards at fort lewis don't think I am there to test their. Streets... Tomorrow morning.

Removing and installing a windshield isn't usually something an average joe can do. Takes special tools to cut the urethane that holds the glass in, and the urethane itself is a special item.

I undercoated the whole underside of my car, then the inner panel rustproofing is what went inside all the exterior panels, where water collects and rust forms. It's real runny, so it seeps into all the knooks and crannies where there's no paint coverage/corrosion protection.

I guess here it is in "race mode". Thats funny never thought about that. As you can see i dont race, just want car to run and look bada$$!

Getting some pretty major pinging again. Going to swap from V-Powers back to the Irridiums and see if I can extend my intake a bit further out for colder air.

It wants the power, but is not getting it!! I tried octane booster and I think it helped a bit, but not buying it for every tank...

Any good ideas??

Irridiums seem to work a bit better. Not sure if it's a hotter spark or what, but the car's doing better now.

Maybe a stupid question, but would you ever need to get a valve adjustment done on the P5?

Picked up a Prosport EVO boost gauge while i was up at SEMA at the Prosport booth. Cant wait to put it in.

Started it up from a week vacation. Happy everything is working well so far.
