What have you done to your P5 today?

So, that means I would have to replace the entire lower control arm, right? I don't think there is a ball joint you can buy separately...

Yup, rockauto has dorman LCAs for $45 per side (in the protege DX category), I'm tempted to try them out. They have a limited-lifetime warranty so they can't be that bad.

I really should start a "build" thread (perhaps a "re-build" thread)...

I think instead of a metal floor, I'm going to go with hardwood. Looks good, doesn't it?

Actually that wood is there to protect the gas and brake lines while I'm cutting/welding, here's what it looks like from under the car:

Look at all this metal I cut out!

Good lord man... I hope I never experience such a thing. Best of luck with that!

Today someone dinged my front bumper in the parking lot at work (sad2)
And I filled my tank in preparation for Irene...Hope my fellow northeast forumers and myself make it through this with minimal to no damage to our cars (nailbyt)

Well... I have an opinion of this and many people are probably going to disagree with me because of the mindset that a certain brand is better than another (which is true in many cases), but keep in mind that all manufacturers of replacement parts must meet certain criteria which is actually more stringent than the OEM company has to meet. So... in some cases, a $45 part may be better quality than a $300 part directly from Mazda. Take that as you will.

thinking of buying a set of Fortune Auto Coilovers... anyone have experience with them?

also need a new front bumper from a small accident, and was thinking of picking up the 02 sedan bumper with the lip... anyone know if it will fit/ look dumb.

Says who?

I once ordered some Beck/Arnley control arms that looked like they were welded by a 5 year old and one of them had a loose ball joint. I really doubt I'd have gotten that from Mazda.

Then again, the Deeza tie rod ends I bought were way beefier than the Mazda ones and they're greasable. The way I see it, with aftermarket parts you get what you pay for.

EDIT: To be on topic, this morning I test welded some pieces. The welds seem to hold pretty well, the only problem I ran into is that the undercoating tends to catch fire when you heat it up too much :S

Jordan, that looks really good, mate. But is that too dark? Can people behind you still see your brake lights? Kinda important...

Thanks bro! I used a volleyball net pole to push the brake in and the lights are even visible from the side of the car. I was worried about the same thing lol I also left the third brake light unshaded incase a cop tries to say something :) but total time for everything start to finish was only about 2.5 hours. I think what I taped off kinda "sets it off"

changed the plugs, might paint the lower rear bumper section but its too damn hot out here right now lol

well I cleaned up my headlights and it looks a hell of a lot better!

the tip it self its a decent size not sure how big but its not that small lol its a lil ebay exhaust i got 4+ years ago sounds nice and deep tho i love it lol

what u use to cover up the reverse lights? i did it before but with my cobalt but what i used when it came down to take it off paint came off lol fail

It was pretty easy. I used 3M blue painters tape and taped the circles off. I used a razor blade (dont gotta push hard) to trace/cut the extra off. Made sure it was even and sprayed. Only 2 somewhat thick coats and I got what I got. Peeled the tape off slow as not to damage the shade. Just take your time and let it cut for an hour between sprays and an hour and a half b4 peelin the tape off.

Ask in the slammed thread, the black proteg sedan with camo fenders has them.
