What have you done to your P5 today?

Yeah, I know... would be cheapest just to scrap the car and get a new one... but since I still have quite a bit to pay off on the car I'm stuck with getting a new motor, so why not get a turbo motor that I know is damn near "plug and play" and not have to worry about the wiring of the v6 swap?

I didn't mean scrap the car. I'm just saying that finding an already turbo'd motor that isn't shot to s*** won't be easy. Your best bet, if that's the route you wish to take, is to find a good, clean N/A motor and do the appropriate modifications to add the MSP setup. Less chance of buying a nearly broken motor.

That's what I was agreeing on. It is near impossible to find a turbo motor that has been pulled that has compression in the cylinders let alone a turbo without a spun bearing. That's why my search is continuing. Though for right now, if it were a direct swap, I would have a kl on it's way to me right now, but alas, having a kid and looking to close on a house soon really doesn't yield me having my daily down for any amount of time.

Well I did it over the weekend, havent posted in here in a while.... Bought the SS ebay catback, and put it on. Actually had to do from the j pipe back, so here is what i put it, j pipe, mid car and the catback....

Surpised the catback actually sounds really good....once I get the coils fixed and shes running again I wiil post pics.

And my coils fried once again, just did them 3 years ago so this weeks project, coils, plugs and wires.......

On the postive side, I added 4 x 1" dome tweeters which add to the 6 x 3" tweeters. So crisp you can feel it! Got 18" rims/tires on friday. Fell inlove with em saturday.

Sunday, hit a pot hole, broke something as now around 50mp/h the back end wobbles and a serious bang/clunk in the rear end.
Monday- picking up rear calipers (finally), cross drilled rotors and ceramic pads!

So it looks like its about 450 for a KL, but I know the overall cost for the swap still would work out more than just a replacement engine, so I'm thinking of finding a decent msp motor with complete turbo and throwing that in and going from there with a new ECU and calling it a day. Now, just to find a motor/turbo that is decent enough to use.

Here's an add on Cleveland Craigslist.

It's on the Michigan border though...pretty far from VA. lol

So I went to the mechanic the mysterious banging was solved. The Racing beat sway bar had actaully come loose as the bracket snapped. Fucken useless mod for just a DD I swear!

How do you wire those tweeters in? Do you have crossovers or are they of a high enough impedance that you can just wire them in parallel without much loss?

The 6 I installed last week have a crossover and I built a small box to put em en, pretty much just ad power.

The ones I installed this week have a small crossover built into them. The 2 different sets are on 2 different amps.

Get used to those brackets snapping. If the bushings get dry, and you happen to go over just the right bump, they pop like it's their day job. I went thru 4 on my P5.

Let me ask what the purpose of "upgrading" is if you call it that.

How bad is this if I run the car without it? seems like more of a pain.

Well, in an ideal situation, it shouldn't break. Of course, if the bushings bind up on a stock bar, it will do the same thing. Any time you upgrade something, you run the risk of breaking something else, so... the way I see it... if you want to upgrade and be part of "the game" then you have to pay the price if something happens. Rough roads, big bumps, etc... those will assist in breaking one of those brackets. I never had a problem after I used a generous amount of grease on my bushings and bar. I popped the 3 on my car within a month.

Without it, you'll push like crazy and the car doesn't handle anywhere near as well. Feels more like a Honda than anything else.

Yea I agree with you on paying to play. I never installed this on my last P5 and certainly not on this one. It came like that from the previous owner to me I am still tryna get my head around why people would want a 2mm larger bar under ur car. I can understand if there wasnt one in the first place but c'mon knowing that its gonna snapp or give you extra work its not worth it. I mean if I cared to make my stock bar look like the racing beat I'd rather spend 5$ on a can of red spray paint and 2$ on a decal to be made.

Such a waste if you ask me. I want a stock one.

My old bushings had no grease on them using the stock bar, it seems that the bar and the bushings wore each other away. I suspect the stock bar is flexible enough that even if it did bind it would just bend without breaking a bracket.

Needless to say, I put a ton of lube on my new bushings :)

It's a great bar to eliminate some of the understeer in spirited driving. however, if you don't care about that type of thing... sure, there's no reason to have one. But... most people who upgrade rear sway bars know to keep them lubed, so they won't normally have this problem.

cleaned the fogged ugly looking headlights it had and messed aroudn with the ac switch problem, think i got it fixed now. time to now get it re tinted, and either put stock rims on or find a set of decent rims on it idk yet.
