What have you done to your P5 today?

Sold my beloved P5 today. My mom bought it for herself when it had 27k on it and I got it around 65k. We sold it with 128k on it. Lots of memories with that car and everything I know about cars comes from it. It's now Kyle's (03.5bluemica) girlfriend's. New car on Sunday!

A moment of silence for Ivan's P5 please... She was one of my first inspirations. Good times indeed.

However, Sunday sunday sunday!!!

...I heard that you can swap the bell housings on the tranny's without having to swap internals. Any truth to that?...

Evan,

I'm a liar, it does mean swapping the actual guts of the tranny over. Not sure why I thought that, granted it's some time since my last bellhousing swap but that's not something you generally forget :p. Go it anyway, worst you're out a trans and you have two for practicing your mad rebuild skillz.

Ordered my rally armor flaps today. Although I do not ever plan on rallying the P5, I do like the look. With all the rocks, gravel, snow, ice, etc here in Colorado, I believe they will serve a purpose.

Heh-heh, no worries. Thankfully my tranny is starting to get easier and easier to shift as I drive around. But it will be nice to have spare.

Im not sure about swapping the internals over. I know the kl has a different final drive, but you may be able to just swap in the p5 diff as well. Id get another trans and just see if it works

Finished painting my wheels (pics in a bit), got some more quick connectors, and I'm gonna go work on my audio right now. Still trying to figure out how to get that damn sunroof cover out without removing the actual sunroof... somebody HAS to know. Its driving me bananas.

you cant do it, ive tried. I removed the headliner, removed all the stops, and could get it to slide almost out all the way. Im thinking the only way to do it is to drop the whole sunroof assembly

Checked my A/C pressures this morning, sure enough they were much too high. I let out about 5-8psi on the low side which seems to have brought everything into spec. Good news is that it blows cold at idle now! It's still not as cold as I'd like (I want icicles dammit!) but it's way more pleasant than having to sweat with the windows open.

The reason why I got it wrong in the first place was twofold: first, I'm pretty sure I was reading the wrong scale on the gauge and second, the engine was at idle when filling which is wrong; the chart in the service manual requires the engine to be running at 1500RPM (it actually makes a huge difference in the pressures).

I took a little ride and on the way back I got a CEL for my downstream O2 sensor again (pissed). I unplugged it and checked the the output voltage, it was showing a big fat zero volts. So either the sensor is bad or the wiring is bad, I'm guessing it's the sensor (it's a universal Chinese POS).

And you don't remove the sunroof....there are lil clips on 3 sides of the cover.....i did it when i painted it all black bit ill be damned if i remember how and where they are....but i know i didst pull the sunroof

Another good hint on the ac is taking car to a wash station and taking the power washer to the front ac exchange and clean all the crap out......this i need to do

That's not a bad idea, although I'd just use a regular hose. I wouldn't want to risk bending the radiator fins with the high pressure water. I'll give it a shot next time I wash my car.

Engine went in the car. Great. I don't have the money to fix it, don't have the money to pay it off, and have no way of getting to work. My last month has just been great.

someone backed into my bike rack :(

That sucks. A friend had the non-folding single-bike version of the Sportworks rack (the original design of the Thule rack you have) on his Miata. With no bike on it, someone failed to see it, and rear-ended it. Of course, if they hit a one-bike rack, they were too damned close anyway!

Did see them hit your rack? If not, did they leave a note?

So just paint the cover black while its in the car? Overspray :(

thats what i did, i had every panel out anyways since i was doing the headliner, so i slid it all the back, and got in the back seat. covered everything else with a big sheet and went to work. Came out pretty good, until i left the sunroof open and it rained lol
