What have you done to your P5 today?

I pounded the s*** out of them from the back to knock them off. The first one took about 45mins of beating it. The back of the rotor face is dimpled like crazy. haha! So on the other one I just hit the face of the rotor with the hammer about 10 times. It cracked the top hat of the rotor but the rotor came loose and slid right off.

I double checked the How-To on here and all the Cali guys are like "Yeah, it should just slide right off.". Turkeys. I've got 8 years of snow, salt and rain up in there. Aint nothing on my car "slides right off". haha! But they're not too bad, Simon.

You've replace the front rotors before. I'm not sure why yours were so stubborn. I hope you gave the back side of the rotor a healthy dosing of never-seize.

For the stereo, wire it up to a relay that uses your amp turn on as the signal. Thats how I have mine set up. If it sees constant power it won't work, the parking brake wire needs current after the deck comes on. If that made any sense.

Busy day today:
  • Changed front AWR mount for Beck/Arnley OEM equivalent (no more bad vibes/noise!)
  • Made sure my gas tank was bolted in nice and tight
  • Changed oil+filter, I'm happy to say that my P5 barely burns any oil
  • Found the source of the latest bad rattle, the rear nut that holds the vertical crossmember was loose.
It's days like today I wish I always had access to a heated garage, I froze my ass off (in fact, it's still frozen).

I have a Sony XNV-660BT (I wanted a Pioneer as I am very familiar with almost all of their line, but my uncle bought this for me randomly lol). I'm thinking if I just ground it it would work (would that send the right signal that way? If not would constant power wire do it?). I would have to wait for Amy to get home with the car to try it out tomorrow.

Tomorrow I should get in my Dash Kit and RCA splitter for the subs in and then I will get pics of it installed (right now it's sitting in the gaping hole, and the first one I bought... radio that is, was faulty and scratched the center console up with removing it and Amy not knowing how to hold the radio correctly).

Since Sony is not that popular in the 12V world anymore, I bet they didn't put too much work into the video lockout. Grounding it should be fine. The best way to tell what you need is to read the manual and see what the procedure is to watch video. Constant definitely won't work lol

Just a thought lol... I didn't read the manual more than just installation and basic GPS navigation. To get a video to play, the wire needs connected and the ebrake engaged, other than that, it won't work. If the ebrake is "off" it won't feed video to the main screen and only to other attached screens to the unit (something that I don't have at the moment). Another interesting issue is that since I have an iPhone, I can BT link just fine for handsfree and music streaming, but videos won't work at all. The iPhone comes up with "non-compatible" error of some sort, but everything works but video lol.

installed my wink mirror today :D

So just grounding the ebrake cable should be fine then.

Details plz.
And does it acctually allow you to see...everything?

Jack the car up or put in on a lift and take a peek under it. Usually you can just bend the heatshield back into place.. Neither will do any major damage, mostly just an annoyance. Theres not a whole lot under our cars to eff up.

The lowest points on the car are the crossmember, the exhaust, and the heatshield. You'd have to hit something really hard to damage the crossmember :) An animal wouldnt necessarily hurt it (unless it was like an armadillo or a gator..even then it'd be a stretch)

So I jacked the car up and crawled underneath. Is the heatshield the the thin piece of metal on the undercarriage above like where the midpipe is? Because part of that was bent backwards, so I'm guessing it's what's banging on the midpipe. I'm gonna try taking it to a local shop tomorrow morning where they can throw it on a lift and try banging it back into place.

lol yea i love mine too...its actually more like 20 bucks, but either way its awesome

and today, started my car for the first time in like 3 weeks....runs, but not very long, gotta figure out why

Yup, thats the heatshield. If nothing else, just cut the damn thing off. It can cause the most annoying rattles.

no test drive with it yet, but i went through 2 broadway mirrors the 270mm and then it was too small and i went 300 but after experiencing it in a friends 240, i fell in love and got the wink mirror :D

next up headliner and suede wrapped panels!
its warming up here in Dallas!

I installed new Brembo OEM rotors upfront, StopTech SS brake lines and a brake fluid flush and refill with Willwood racing brake fluid. Those front rotors are a b**** to get off.
