What have you done to your P5 today?

This weekend I got an LED light bar that I'm planning to mount to the hatch cover and wire into the existing hatch light so that I have light from the top center instead of just that one useless light down low on the side that gets blocked by a single bag of groceries. I'll use a connector on the wire so I can just unplug it and remove it with the cover when I'm hauling big stuff. Now I just need it to get warm enough that I can stand to be outside putzing with the car for an hour or so!

LOL, our old parts peddler Alex. Hahaha.

Speaking of... I got the oil pan last week or so. I wish I had purchased it from you sooner, so I could have gotten it sooner, so i could have put the pretty pan on my engine, and not on the one that I stole it from. Hahaha. It's all good tho.

This mod was done to my P5 back in July... just never had the opportunity to get pics posted.

I was thinking one day, "why do people like wide body kits? damn they're ugly... I'm going to go for a thin body kit." So then I started thinking about ways to accomplish this mod, and then it hit me.

I said to myself, I know what I'll do, I'm going to get on the freeway and head home to pick up my dog and then go visit my mom to help her out with some chores. I had to remember that the key to this was to mind my own business by driving like an experienced defensive driver and following the rules of the road on the freeway and hopefully someone will get the hint and help me out with my proposed mod.

So I'm sitting on I-5 in the right most lane (2 lanes exit onto 520 at the point) at the 520 east bridge off/on ramp, stopped on the freeway because of heavy traffic. I must have caught someone's attention because they knew exactly what needed to be done for the thin body kit. Like a ninja, this girl with her mazda3 speeds up to about 45-50 mph in traffic going no faster than 25 (in the second to right-most lane, which also exits onto 520) and "cuts off" a big chevy tahoe suv by face-palming the guy's passenger headlight with her rear quarter panel. I can tell this wasnt her first time because she made it look easy as if she were a professional, she was able to accurately gauge how much distance she needed between the front of her car and the back of my protege5 to be able to slam on her brakes and still delicately destroy my rear bumper going at what felt about 30 mph. She did flawless work, and I would highly recommend her for anyone looking to do the same mod.

Took the car over to Showcase in totem lake, and they started to estimate the damage. Talking to the guy, he told me he stopped estimating once the damage amount went past $9000, and was still climbing. Because she hit me square in the center of the bumper, no damage occurred to the tail lights or exhaust. It did however crush the spare wheel well compartment like a used accordion.

Goodbye P5. You will be missed.

NOOOOOOOooooooo......... Not another P5 gone. Damn it. Great story though, but I hate sad endings.

so i ran my last few tanks with an mp3 ecu on 87 octane. got 31.4mpg this last tank! i think im going back to 93 though so i dont get any knocking or engine problems.

My car must run pig rich. I rarely see 300miles in one tank. But my driving is typically around town and warm-ups in the morning and after work.

I would have it totaled, buy it back, and just get a new rear bumper (soft and hard). Deal with the other crap.

I considered that option. I did have to keep in mind that I would still need a brand new front bumper and hood because I was pushed into the car in front of me. I have a mintblue us spec rear bumper that would fit IF I was able to bang out the frame of the body otherwise it wouldnt fit. There was a very good chance that if we tried to pull out the frame from the accordion style "crunch", it would have ripped apart resulting in a huge hole in the bottom of the trunk area.

trust me.. i loved my P5... and would have done it in a heartbeat if it didnt mean cleaning me out financially. :(

changed sparkplugs and coil packs since i was having bad misfire on the p5.. but i'm pullin a code p0106 for a MAP sensor.. i thought our cars didn't have MAPs i also cleaned the MAF..

This is the egr boost sensor right behind the passenger strut. It's what tells the egr when to open. Most likely just a leaky vac line... but way back when I boosted my p5 I was told by Hiboost to put a check valve on the line leading in from the im source to keep the sensor from seeing boost.
