What have you done to your P5 today?

Hello P5 guys, long time no see! :)

Fish - I understand where you're coming from when you say you want an easy riding/driving car. I couldn't believe how amazing the P5 felt when I brought it back to stock. I think a stock P5 with an MP3 ECU would be a fun daily driver.

What's up Even? Your car is looking as great as ever!

Miata is treating me well, just saving up for some coilovers and plan on getting wheels with my tax return.

rag washed it today.
got in the rest of my stuff for my brakes. SS lines soon. :D

Going to pull a bunch of parts from it tomorrow. Stock suspension being put on next weekend. So much stuff. Can't believe how much stuff I bought for this car.

just waiting to install Tokico blues, awr 21.5mm sway bar, awr endlinks, and rear calipers (most of the stuff is still shippin). figured save it all for a long weekend task (^;

It's a shame that the P5 model is getting so high up there in age. I have a feeling that more and more part out threads will come before there are crazy builds again. Mine is definitely nothing more than a winter beater now. But I hope to keep her running for a while longer.

be ready for the noise, the AWR rear sway and endlinks make the most annoying clunking sounds in the world

Yeah...when you install the endlinks, and you think you have them tight enough... keep going. It's the only way to keep them silent. I managed to get mine quiet.

Got my winter shopping list started, wonder what I'm missing for fundamentals:

Megan Racing lateral links
Megan Racing (maybe AWR) trailing links
Header
Low Resistance Wires
1.8 Coil Setup and VC
MP3 Intake Manifold
Rally Armor Mud Flaps
Escape Endlinks (Moog) for front Racing Beat Sway Bar
Wideband w/ O2
Clunk Fix Brackets from Group Buy
Tokico Blues struts

(wishful thinking)
FS-ZE cams
Adjustable cam gears

Scrap all that and get a msp turbo setup...lol

Put a Sentsy smelly thing in my car. Kinda smells like CK One.
Don't really know when I'm going to be able to work on the car again. The wedding is coming up and it's crunch time.

Becareful with some aftermarket wires. Some people have found out the hard way that expensive wires don't yield good results, and sometimes OEM is the best for the job.

what causes them to have a clunk? well ive never installed struts, endlinks, or a sway bar so its going to be a fun time.

Endlinks not being tight enough is the majority of the noise. The way the AWR endlinks are designed, there is some play in the endlink if not tight enough that will transfer thru the sway bar, thru the subframe, and you hear a loud clunk in the rear when going over larger bumps. I've always used an impact wrench on my AWR's to ensure that they are tight enough. Or, there's another way to quiet them down if you don't want to tighten them past the point of hand tools. You can get urethane bushings, cut them thinner, and put them on either side of the endlink tab to isolate the endlink, but... that only works for a little while before the bushings wear down and the endlink starts making noise.
