What have you done to your P5 today?

Simon, the problems you have had with this turbo, along with Greg and Ivan make me more and more realize why I do not want one...lol...

Well, wouldn't that cause a vacuum leak since you're pulling fresh air into the TB, especially without a filter?

nope, it only pulls in air when the EGR valve is open so it wouldnt effect anything at all except the car might run a bit leaner when the ecu tells the EGR to open

and alex, yea i know, ive had so many problems its ridiculous
hopefully ill get it sorted out cuz this car is starting to annoy me

probably not, my mom is coming up to charlotte and i have to look at houses with her lol
plus my car might not even be running right soo...its almost def. a no

And I know what you mean. I did the VTCS removal on my IM and vacuum leaks are such a PITA. I tightened the s*** out of my intake mani bolts, TB bolts and EGR bolts and it idles nice and smooth again. The soapy water trick doesn't work on vacuum, Steve. I heard if you spray carb cleaner it will suck it in but I still couldn't find any leaks. I'd suggest just wrenching all those bolts down really tight and see if that helps. Try not to get too frustrated, you'll figure it out, mate.

The open EGR isn't a vacuum leak, per se. It's pulling in unmetered air which will affect the a/f system in balancing the ratio and controlling air, but the valve isn't open always. I wouldn't do this, but it shouldn't affect idle or anything.

And also, why won't soapy water work? I've done this and seen this done numerous times to find vac leaks...

Ahhh, gotcha. I thought soapy water was for air leaks, for like tires and air coming out, not pulling in. How would you be able to tell if there is a vacuum leak with soapy water? I'm not being a smartass, I'm just curious as I might give it a try to see if I have any more leaking vacuum lines.

Lol, I get what your saying because a vacuum leak is not a "leak", per se. But actually pulling in unmetered air, not leaking it. But to my knowledge the flow of air can still cause bubbles to form around the vac leak.

Someone else can probably explain it better, or come along and tell me I'm wrong... I'm sure you'll get an answer one way or another. (shrug)

Put another 10 miles on the ODO going to/from work and various other places

Boost or no boost, it'll die eventually

Why not enjoy it while ya got it? Had I kept mine, i'da boosted it

I still want to turbo Callie's but she won't let me. . . . .

I ALWAYS wanted to turbo my P5 but I knew I wouldn't be able to afford it. That's why I want an MSP, and there is a clean silver 03.5 in Farmers Branch, Tx that I want to go look at as soon as I get my insurance check.

so we'll see you sometime around 10pm your time? haha yeah, those are a pain on any car to do especially with older cars

drove her back the 7.1 miles from my last college class EVER. a week and 2 days till i walk across a stage and become a big kid

Actually its 1230am and I finished the bushings and a couple of other things that were bothering me.

like the dust cover for my coilovers were cracked and warped so that when the spring compressed it would make this clicking sound. Done and going to get a replacement from Tein.

cleaned up my trunk area that was full for loose tools and what not.

figured out what that crackle from my front speakers where coming from. (loose ground connection)

But overall the bushing was easier than expected. The way I did it was with no sockets. only wrenches. Its the only way to go. Including jacking up the car and what not it only took me 45 min.

edit. Im going to make a How to.
