Indeed. I figured it out... just to fix the rust will cost me more than the car is worth. With the mileage on it and future repairs coming up... it's officially been demoted to "Beater" status, and dealt with as such.

Speaking of rust fixing...anyone have any idea how much a good bodyshop would charge to fix some rust in the rear wheel wells that is just starting to bubble under the paint? I almost don't want to do it for fear that any respray will show, but I am also afraid of rust eating my car. Any opinions/experiences?

however if you call a few body shops.. and not nessicarliy in your town... to get a fair price. that should put you in a range...
i do know IF they fix it.. they cut out a portion beyond the dammage... so lets say the dammage is at the bottom of your right rear wheel well ( for arguments sake and it was metal and not plastic ) they would cut that out and go some where around 6 inches above and weld a new piece of metal there in place.. so respraying the car would be covered by their workif they do the whole car or just that section

Here in Ohio.. probably 80 bucks for both sides if they are small and just bubbles... All they will do is grind it down to bear metal if just bubbles then there wont be any major damage and they will be able to put a light coat of filler on there sand and re-spray.

yeah but its usually 100k before they are recommeded to be changed.
