What have you done to your P5 today?

Well I ended up buying Bala's Microtech LT-10s. I must be crazy since I've spent way too damn much on this car already but I just couldn't pass up the 800 dollar price. I know that a few months ago the unit was around 800 bucks new cause the Australian dollar was down so much but I couldn't afford it then. Bala and I worked it all out though and so I should be having a standalone installed sometime! Of course this means transmission upgrades in the future (Either a manual with Welded diff and all that jazz or possibly a lentech transmission.) This will of course be done waaay into the future. I have my priorities straight and I plan on keeping it that way :D

Attempted to replace the coolant temp sensor last night.....quickly realized that the only metric wrenches I have are of the ratcheting variety. So I'm making a trip to Sears at lunchtime.

Apparently I did not secure the plug when I put it back together as she started real rough this morning and my gauge never moved on the way to work. Pop the hood and sure enough the plug was undone. Plugged it back in and all is good....except for the CEL I now have.

Back from Sears and getting a full tank of gas before the weekend. Surprisingly gas prices have not sky rocketed this week...$2.45 for regular.

Bought a 19mm locking flex combination ratcheting wrench for the coolant sensor. Could have saved $20 by buying a deeper socket than the deep socket I have but was afraid that may damage the sensor.

Oh well, another tool to add to the chest.

Just changed the coolant temp sensor.....so easy when you have the right tools.

I'm finally walking away from repairing the rust where the "Protege5" emblem once was. It was pretty bad. I sanded it, bondo'ed it, primered it, painted it and clear cloated it. Then put a new "Sport20" badge where the P5 emblem used to be. The paint I used from AutoZone just wouldn't match, just I blended it the best I could. This pic is actually the third and final attempt. I just have to accept it will never be perfect. I wish I had a before/after shot. But this is just the after. I've got to let the clearcoat dry 48 hours then I'll buff it to a high gloss shine.

I finally replaced my finicky + battery terminal with something substantial, spreading some anti-corrosion gel all over the place. Hopefully this is the end of her not starting!

If you are getting corrosion, you might want to check the battery cable. I just cut mines 8 inches inwards, and it was still corroded with that green/white stuff.

Got some work done today.

Here is the final test fit on the turbo and down pipe
