What have you done to your P5 today?

you pickin up seats magnum? im in the market for seat/s. picked up that harness bar in the forsale forum and need to find a seat i like. post pics when you get your secret plan executed:)

Yep, I was going to hold off spending money on anything other than engine stuff but I just stumbled across too good a deal for not one, but two racing seats! And I'm not talking to Corbeau's either. All I need to get ahold of are some brackets as the guy had them in a different car. I will hopefully be picking them up tomorrow, weather permitted (unless I can fit them both in the P5). Hopefully I've have the brackets in time to install before Midwest Mazda fest.
 
You probably couldnt afford to drive anything if you were spending $50k on crack cuz if you need that much you've got one hell of a problem lol

So does anyone know how to avoid the airbag light when removing the factory seats? I know not all P5s came with side airbags and ABS but mine did. I'm just curious if anyone else got around this.
 
lol yup. Then you can be like me and my dash light for my brights. I always have to check to make sure I didn't accidentaly flip em on since my HID's are so bright. I've driven around with my brights on a couple times now lol.

Well after looking through the factory service manual and doing some searching online it appears there are two ways to go about doing this. The first consists of fooling the SAS module into thinking the side airbags are still there and the second essentially disables the side airbag system as if the car never came with them. The first method involves a 1W 2.2 ohm resister that is stuck into the connector. I don't know exactly how this works - are there just two wires in the connector and you shove the resistor into it? The other method involves grounding a particular pin on the actual SAS module. The latter method seems more straight forward to me - the issue would just be getting to the module and grounding it.

i'm not 100% on the resistor as i've not done it yet.. i'll need to do it for my airbag.. but i believe you solder the resistor to each part of the connector.. hence a loop of some sort.

From what I understand soldering is not necessary as long as the resistor will stay in place. I have a better understanding of the first method and it does seem to be the easier route but there also seems to be room for more error there. Perhaps tomorrow night I will give everything a look. I'm just hoping that if I do the seats and resistors all at the same time that I won't have to worry about clearing DTCs and whatnot.

Ill probably go to radio shack and see what they got there. Maybe ill try it out this weekend. Right now my girlfriends picture is blocking the light...lol
 
I just (literally) ordered a pair of brackets from Wedge Engineering. Too bad there's a four week lead time :(
 
front, rear, and sides? Have fun with the rear!!

i've got front and rear AWR's with side inserts and i still get bucking
