What have you done to your P5 today?

cycle the key in the ignition 3 times, then push the door jam button 3 times

the car should lock/ unlock, then, press a button on the remote

I then shut the door, let the car cycle, then try your remote

Ah, forgot you have both Proteges too! lol

Yeah, MUCH nicer with just one remote and 2 keys rather than 2 remotes

Yup, turn the key, but don't start the car

do that on to off 3 times, then press the door jam button 3 times

Car should then cycle lock/unlock, then press a button on the remote

then shut the door and let the car cycle again

That'll be $108 please. That's waht Mazda will charge ya

yeah, it's a stupid Viper

And I unlocked the driver's side with the key and it gave me 5 seconds before it went off

So, the alarm is all still in the car, but, just disconnected under the dash.

I hated that thing from the start anyways, so, hooray for stock keyless entry again!!

Oh, and reprogramed the remote so it works on both Pro5's. So, don't need to carry 2 different remotes anymoer!!

you really dont like your viper system? ive had mine since may and i love it, esp the remote and how it vibrates and beeps when the alarm is going off. what series do you have?

it's an old viper

And it's been nothing but a severe PITA

It's just a 3 button remote that doesn't do anything

I HATE the fact it locks and arms itself. I gotta either leave a key in or leave a door open while I work on the car so it doesn't go off every 2 minutes

lol thanks :p

the MSP alarm does that, but only if you hit the unlock button and you dont open a door. it will lock itself after about 30 seconds

I'm pretty sure the stock alarm will lock the doors and re-arm itself if left alone long enough. If you unlock the car with the remote and then don't open the door for like 20 seconds it should relock and re-arm.

I guess it's too late, but you could get a hold on the alarm's manual and reprogram the viper alarm so it would not lock itself. Most alarms have a programming mode where you could set up stuff like if it sounds when you lock/unlock, if it autolocks and a bunch of other less useful options. Programming is usually done from the remote &/or valet button.

I don't have teh stock alarm on either car, just keyless entry

You really need to look through the owners manual for your alarm and get educated, even the older vipers can be set to control your door locks so you don't need two remotes, second there is a valet switch so you can work on your car without having to leave a door open, and last it can be programmed not to passive arm and lock.

Even though most people ignore an alarm going off you still have the advantage of starter kill.Even though if a pro car thief wants your car nothing will stop him, at the same time it has been statistically proven that even the most rudimentary thing that slows a thief down will cause him to look for something else.

Pat.

Alright, lemme clarify, i don't need 2 remotes for my car

I have 2 pro5's and I had both my OEM remotes programmed for the wife's car, and I carry my Viper key FOB for my car, so, i had remotes to both cars on my keys

Now, i carry one OEM Key FOB, which works on both cars

And, where is said Valet switch?

Either way, honostly, i am fine without the alarm. All i wanted was the OEM keyless FOB, which I now have, so, im' happy

and a blinking blue light

But, in all honosty, as quick as i was able to disable the alarm, it is not much of a protection

And, i didn't even know what I was doing. just had an idea.

Opened door, popped hood, cut siren wire, went under dash and unplugged Viper control module

Only tool i used was wire cutters to cut siren wire and break the zip-tie holding the module under the dash

And with all teh car alarms that go off around here, the 5 seconds of the alarm sounding wouldn't draw any attention, so the thief could just as easily get back in the car and noone would look twice

no matter how fast you cut the wires or whatever as soon as the alarm goes off the fob vibrates, beeps and blinks. i have been woken up 3-4 times by it of course from false alarms but better safe then sorry. it has so many settings and you can expand it up to like 4 cars, its insane.

Hey, i had one of these for a little while, and it was pretty much the same size

So, yeah, projector headlights showed, but, something punctured one of the boxes and struck the projector breaking one of the mounting tabs

so, now i gotta file a claim with the post office (OH JOY) and have em shipped back to PR and wait for em to be fixed and mailed back to me
