Going back to my aerospace knowledge I'm beginning to think that because my sender is inline with the oil feed the oil is flowing past it at some rate and therefore the pressure is reading lower. Hmm...
Well I don't remember pre-turbo too much but yeah its definitely gone down since then. I really hope this is just the case because I can't imagine I'm having near-zero oil pressures fully warmed up at idle. I guess the sender isn't really accurate in that sort of position. Are there any other locations where we could put the sender for a more accurate reading? Now if only I could fix my blow-by problem and stop my car from eating it's own oil...khaosman said:Drop compared to what? A couple days ago? Pre-turbo? I remember reading in a thread where other people said their pressure was lower after turbo, pretty much because of the reason you described. It is flowing past it, not just stopping there like in a non-oil feed line.
magnumP5 said:Ok, sorry to keep annoying everyone with oil-talk but what does it mean if I have oil residue on the outside of the vacuum lines that run from my pcv valve to the IM. I didn't notice this before turbo but now if I touch those lines I get oil on my hands. Is this bad?
I'm actually using Samco lines (same thing essentially, just not a kit) but this is infact normal? I was worried because I thought this was the cause of my oil consumption issue - I guess I still yet have some learning to do. So the residue on the outside is just where the oil vapors have seaped through? This would explain why I saw more oil after I installed the Millenia PCV because it let more oil vapors out. Would it be better to have a catch can between the PCV and those lines so no oil vapor enters the combustion chamber?shane02pro5 said:That's normal at least with my hose techniques hoses. They recommend not using them for oil or fuel.
Alright, thanks. So did you put your catch can in between the pcv and the IM?shane02pro5 said:Yes, yes, and after I did my Millenia PCV I ended up getting a catch can also.
Side note: Vacation day tomorrow to do my Exedy Clutch, new synchros Welded LSD, FC throwout bearing or Koyo (not sure which will be better)and a few other unexpected parts from the dealer in the morning.
$1100 sheesh!! Will be worth it though!!!!
Tired of not being able to romp on it for the past 2 months!!
Excited and nervous!!!
Nice! I was going to go that route once but I just don't think it's worth it anymore with these cars. Sure 300+ whp is great but with FWD it gets a little crazy. I plan on settling at 10 psi with an AFC and everything else will just be bolt-ons and subsequent re-tunes - hopefully will put me in the 225-250 whp range with stock internals. I didn't know the Stage 1 was that strong!shane02pro5 said:PCV>Catch Can>IM T where PCV connected.
Exedy Stage 1 Hopefully I don't (burn) it up!
I got around 60k miles out of my Clutchmasters Stage IIR rated at like 240Tq it was near stock feel and I'm at around 260Tq now at 12psi but soon well over 300tq when I get my Speed Circuit block in a few months. Probably have to upgrade again when I'm at that point.
