makes a big difference.

just got my ebay cargo liner, now i dont have to worry about spilling anything in the back, was kinda paranoid about what i put back there before cause i didn't want to get any stains.

Did my passenger side rear bearing/hub today. When we pushed the old hub off, it came to pieces and greasy bearings rolled everywhere. I was worried, because it left part of the inner race stuck on the spindle. But we used a pulley puller and were able to work it off. Things with this car are never easy! Slid the new bearing/hub on, tightened everything back down and it is amazing how whisper quiet this thing is. In neutral I can barely hear anything. It's great.

And, for reference, I bought my bearing on ebay for $70-$80. When I pulled off the old, stock bearing, the part numbers and company matched exactly. The ebay ones are OEM.

Here are some pics of the now destroyed bearing and hub. Anyone know what that small collar is on the right (second pic)? It was pushed behind the race left on the spindle. I just figured it was some sort of dust collar that came with the last bearing. It's not shown in the service manual or the parts catalog, I didn't get a new one in the box and we destroyed it getting it off, so we just slid the hub on without one.

Not bad... When I took the one off the passenger side of my MSM, it came off in 3 pieces by hand. The ball bearings came out too. I counted them when I picked them up, and I was missing 2...

EDIT: When I did the drivers side on the P5 the first time, one race was missing all of the balls. It was running on the inner most set of bearings only.

I'm amazed it held together! Was this the driver's side rear? You have any insight into that collar thing?

Nah man, I have no idea about that. I should have mentioned that I was doing the fronts. I haven't had to do the rears on this car yet.

My only thought is that it's some kind of dust/dirt shield, so maybe I shortened the life of this bearing by not reinstalling it...but since it isn't shown on any parts diagram or manual anywhere, I'm not too worried about it.

sold her yesterday, now i own a wicked fast msp. forged 10 psi, fmic, sri, 440 injectors, ssafc. theworks! woot!

Clay barred her today. When all said and done took over 4 1/2 hours including washing, wax and cleaning the interior!
