What have you done to your MSP today?

Oh yeah.. I had to use some 1000 grit followed by some 2000 to free and smooth the calcium? deposits around the edges. I did a hybrid of the "hairspray on couplers" trick. I used a tiny amount of hair gel on the metal inlets for that water elbow as well, to help it all slide on there... and being as its got three outlets, its a bit of a b**** to get on there.

That certainly looks like a possibility (the leak location). I like the oil cap.. same one I have.. I heard a few people say they are junk, but considering my stock one leaked and this one doesn't... I guess between the two of us installing it at almost the same time, it will be a good test to see how long it holds up.
What did they say about them exactly Mike? Do they leak oil or does it just look "ricer"? Lol.

I believe the wording was "ebay junk"

No reasons were given if I remember correctly. But this thing is billet aluminum, and the gasket looks solid. So maybe its just another case of just people assuming EVERYTHING on eBay is junk, without actually trying it.. maybe they did try it, but IDK. I don't want to cause drama or be hateful.. but I am REALLY selective about who I listen to. There are only like 4 or 5 people on here (or anywhere really) whose opinion (about MSP's) means anything to me... and all of you can be found commenting on my thread and within the last 2 months in this one.. lmao.

I agree with you 100%.

I hope you get that water elbow on easier than i did. Like I said, I had to basically polish and (lightly) hair gel lube everything to get it on. It sucked. And it sucks that Samco doesn't make it. All the rest of my water hoses are red..

I got it on, it was kind of a pita because of the 3 arms in different angles but took about 30-40min. I wish I can put the metal tube connecting to the turbo in further to fit more snug.

Thats why I sanded the corrosion down and polished.. then added the hair gel. That hose is a b*tch, and there is nothing really to get any leverage on.

just unbolt the keeper from the side of the head to allow movement of one of them. but it is a b****. dont be afraid to bend it to accomplish the task, its made of silicon after all. it also helped the turbo side was loosly fitted. cant do that to the hotside unfortunately..
id say its pretty generous that the stock msp hoses were silicon though.

I wouldnt worry about that oilcap leaking. if it does, im sure its nothing an oring cant fix.. pretty low tech s***...

After a year or so the sticker on the cap will fade and the coating on the cap may deteriorate. I had one a few years ago, went with the MS3 style cap on both of my MSPs.

Been busy lately and haven't put time into the MSPs despite them needing it. 1345 has a loud rattle from the front end that needs attention (probably IC pipes rubbing), and the CV axles and swaybar bushings are shot. 1574 has an exhaust leak at the head that I discovered yesterday were from 2 bolts stripped out in the aluminum head, either going to have to helicoil or re-tap those holes or replace the head altogether. And I need to replace the Wastegate with a stock one and re-do the hot pipe as the angle it sits at (and the compliance from the stock motor mounts) allows the pipes to slip and pop off under boost.

I did get a set of the canadian CF looking door switches because I like the way they look in my first MSP, and ordered a boost gauge so I can have one in each car.

Yessir as long as you get one from an 07-09, they changed to a quick-release style in '10 that doesn't fit. Or you can get the Mazdaspeed miata cap. I see you found me on instagram!

Lol. Yessir. Dam now I'm kinda regretting buying the cap from eBay -_-. I love the ms3 caps. Well see.

hey where did you guys get that t-elbow?

Its ordered directly from Callaway and as far as I know, the only place to get one. I talked to the guy on FB that orders custom 99-03 NA protege hose sets. He said the CAD file doesn't exist for OUR water elbow, only the regular one.

I have a computer programmer buddy of mine who I've know for almost 20 years now.. I have him to help me.. I think I might make that CAD file. Its a lot of work just to make my hoses match, but I am also looking into the future. If Callaway stops having it available, we're completely up s*** creek on this. There's ways around it, but it's not what I would call "optimal"..

Heres the link for the hose though

He's a cool dude. I got a deal on his last set of Reds, cause someone crapped out on him from the last group buy. I've had some good luck in the parts ordering arena as of late.

yeah me too I just scored a dual gauge cluster from a member here last night I just happened to be looking right when it was posted I had to snatch it up those are hard as heck to find! and yeah I saw your link and hit the dude up he replied quickly and was very easy to deal with.
