What have you done to your MSP today?

Everything from jpipe back. Same jpipe. Msp just doesn't use the o2 bung. I put it all on my p5 with stock cat np. Though msp main exhaust pipe is the same as es/p5 catted midpipe only different in number of cats.

Kind of doing the same thing just so I can move it around the property and run it so it doesny sludge up.

First time ever sewing a steering wheel cover so I messed up a little on the bottom left but I'm still happy with it. My original steering wheel was faded as ever. Nice little $55 upgrade especially if your steering wheel is faded.

I've considered it as a replacement for a long time. I've said I'm selling the MSP for a while though, so who knows what will actually happen.

I had a 01 ES that I had put 200k on before it was totaled. Hwy mileage was 42-46 mpg.
I have the parts to do it. Regular manual transmission Protege ECU, stock Protege MBSP, full size aluminum radiator. I do need to know 1 thing can I use a regular protege headers to the stock MSP exhaust ��. I will also need an SRI or pipe to go to the stock air box as it is shared with all Proteges.
Almost forgot the engine needs a rebuild but that can be achieved efficiently and inexpensively if I'm not forging the engine. The engine has 32k on it but it sat and was beat on.

Don't, just don't. It's not worth the trouble and the turbo is not costing you any more MPG than an N/A car on the highway. As long as you aren't boosting everywhere you will get the same mileage turbo or not. The turbo improves the engine's efficiency. My P5 got about 2-3 mpg better max than my speed and I drove that car normally, I boost the hell out of both of my MSPs. Pulling the motor and replacing the MBSP to remove the turbo? Absolutely defies logic, SMH

I removed the Steedspeed yesterday to ship out today. Have the turbo on my bench ready to disassemble and rebuild it. My plan is to rebuild it, install another open differential transmission, remove the boost controller to run factory boost and likely sell the car. I'm either going to get another bike or use the money to fix all the minor, stupid issues with the Rx8 and add a couple of mods to it. Or I've also considered purchasing a used Greddy kit locally for the 8, but then I'll just go down another MSP type path of constantly breaking and rebuilding it, so there's that. I'll likely get a commuter bike, though. Who knows, because I clearly do not.

(ugh) if you don't want it to constantly break, maybe change your driving style. Been said many times before. (crazy)

I must say, I beat the living s*** out of my MSPs (even on track) and have never had an engine failure *knock on wood*. 3rd gear synchros failed after 150k miles but that I consider 'normal'

They didn't show it in detail but I'm sure you can find info. It was the Mazda Speed that went to all the auto shows prob 2002

This is the closest thing I could find, its pretty fugly IMO


They built a very similar version of the red protege called the StreetCar concept back in 1998 but it had the 99-00 front end and was equally fugly.

Yeah I guess it really isn't that bad, I just laugh inside when I see racing seats in a Protege. The mirrors and widebody are pretty ugly IMO

But it just looks like a regular protege with speed3 rims and a different front end? Unless... It's a 323 directly from Japan with a FS-ZE?

Can't tell much from the photo but it does look like a non-USDM Familia or 323 depending on where it was sold. Obvious FMIC and sport20 bumper, those dual beam 99-00 headlights are super rare here
