What have you done to your MSP today?

I was gonna say the hg too. Do a quick compression check. That will give you answers

I did one (its in the novel i wrote), but i may do it again cause i didnt do it with the throttle open as the gauge manual suggested (dont know if that matters or not)

As long as the number were fairly consistant across the cylinders you're most likely fine. So yeah, maybe turbo, water pump, rad, rad hoses... idk, that's weird. Have you checked the coolant for oil?

that was my thinking. I assumed if it was within 10% and within factory range it wouldnt matter as i was looking for the variance. I havent checked the coolant, just the oil. one of my friends asked about the shaft play (insert joke) on the turbo and i told him there wasnt much up and down but in and out there was quite a bit, and he said thats worse than the up and down movement. That and its not spinning freely like it should. so i think its the turbo. i wish all the normal signs were there so i can tell what is what. If i got a turbo and its the hg i may just cry inside(or vise versa).

and figures there was 3 or 4 msp turbos last week on here. now there all gone. thats my luck

just run the coolant line back in a loop so its not going to turbo and see if i lose coolant still? Is it ok to drive with it smoking?

You're just burning coolant, which in and of itself isn't going to hurt anything. My suggestion was to cut off the coolant supply to the turbo, if the smoke went away, or went to a strait blue, then you could fairly safely assume that your HG is fine, and the smoke is being produced in your exhaust.

ahh i see now. makes sense. ill do that today. thanks!

Today I put bigger brakes in the front, installed the clunk fix, changed my ignition wires and spark plugs, changed my oil and did some tuning. Now I like my car again! (Usually fades out within a week or two when a new problem arise.)

^lol. Wow I haven't been in here in a while and it takes almost a whole day to go back and catch up on things.

Figured I would ask this qestion here. My speedo and tach light went out, but the bulbs are fine and workin other sockets. All the other dash lights work, but the main 2. I don't know if it is a cluster thing or what. It has been like this for the last month now and I really need to get it fixed, but if I need a new cluster...?

^^^^Fuse? Wiring?

Took her out driving with some buddies. It started snowing in the mountains. Hankook RS2's + Below 32 = super dorifto protege

Fuse are all fine and the back of the cluster is a printed circut grid. The bulbs are not hard wired themselves. They just make contact with the back of the circut board. Allof the other bulbs work fine through the print.
