What have you done to your MSP today?

Evilmonkey, im gonna put my other 10" fan in front of the AC condenser as a pusher to hopefully aid the AC system. Will let you know how it goes

how did this work out for you for cooling under the hood? What exactly did you do?

It seems to help, the fan doesnt kick on until the car stops moving. I removed the weatherstrip along the cowl/firewall and loosened the hood bolts and put washers between the hood and the hinge to vent heat. 2 washers on the front bolt, 3 on the back one. You dont really notice it and i think it looks intentional, not like the car was wrecked. All I had to do was "roll" the inside of the top of the fender a bit so the hood didnt rub due to the slightly higher height but you cant tell the fender has been modified whatsoever.

which is why I'm going to try to get the stockers to fit.

as long as you don't have the upgraded radiator, the smic/heat radiator fan will fit, but the stock one for the A/C side won't unless you want some really really serious rubbing on the pipes and fan, but even then I doubt it will fit unless you jam the crap out of it and maybe bend or dremmel out a part of the back side of the stock fan, like the plastic pieces that block the actual blades, just in the area a little where the hot pipe goes.. but not sure

oh, also, I've really been thinking about trying to replace the stock temp. gauge with something that I can screw into a bug into the cold pipe before my MAF sensor, I figure that might be causing a lot of inconsistency with the afr levels when there is a change in temp. it is great usually when I tune it in normal day time temps. but then at night or even sometimes when it's not that cold out, maybe it's just really humid and muggy, it just drops down to 10afr and lags like a b****, I just figure if the temp gauge and the MAF sensor can read from the same air, then it will be more like the way they tuned the car for, because stock it doesn't fuel cut, but that is also when it doesn't have the bov on it and other stuff..

so I think this would fix a lot.. anyone have any experience with this, or can point me in the right direction? not sure if there are any gauges that can replace the stock one and will have the same voltage readings and output so the ECU can read it without any problems

The Silvia turbo rebuild starts tonight. Just gotta Ger a #15 (I think) torx bit, some red locktight, and find my right angle needle nose pliers and c-clip pliers. Will take pictures. Also swapping the compressor and maybe exhaust housing from another turbo I got from a friend of mine, since hes got like 5 msp gt25 turbos with blown seals on a shelf lol

resealed the lower hose part of my custom oil catch can... it came loose and i was leaking oil was like wtf checked it out and yup it was coming from the can. should be better now :). also found cat scratch marks on my rear spoiler :/ gonna have to electrify the body while its armed up lol

the MSP ECU BARELY uses the IAT sensor in calculating fuel trims. You're making mountains out of mole-hills

I hope so, mine is tied away in the engine bay between the battery and fuse box. I dont want to mount it in the pipe and I dont want to unplug it and get a CEL. But I also dont want it screwing up my already screwed stock tune.

damn, I was hoping that would fix some issues, I guess mazda really sucked balls when they were tuning this thing.. but actually the last 2 days after installing those new platimum spark plugs, I have noticed they keep the air fuel ratios a little higher and where I tuned them too, which is a positive.. so maybe my plugs were just crapped out and the copper was sucking.. who knows

Would running a colder plug help keep my AFRs out of the 9s? I don't remember exactly which NGKs are in it now but they are stock heat range. I run about 8lbs of boost and plan on tuning for about 9 lbs.

Colder plugs aren't really necessary until you are running 9-10 pounds, so I would leave the stockers in for now. I switched back from my colder plugs to the stock heat range and didn't really notice any difference in the tune.. it still sucks.

ya I had colder plugs in mine for a while when I was running 8 as a low and 10 as a high with the EBC, now I just have it set to like 8-8.5 depending on the temps. and 9 with the high setting but there definitely not necessary for the most part, I think some of that has to do with the fact that I think the thicker copper plugs just weren't doing it, I did a couple full boost pulls tonight on the way home from work to see how they were, and it was still rich as balls but during the day it seemed better over all,

I still have to tune it, but I think the Platinum ones were doing much better, the kid I know at autozone was saying that pretty much all boosted cars are running them, and they just work better than copper ones, he just rebuilt an Evo he just bought.. which I'm jealous.. just pulled just shy of 400 whp and it doesn't have much done to it, except for the rebuilt engine and 25lbs of boost.. but still stock intercooler which he is replacing.. but it's still retarded

I may try to do the front endlinks and bushings today, it's just so hot outside. Or I may pull the front bumper AGAIN (i'm getting tired of it) and install a 'pusher' fan on the AC condenser and clean up the headlights.
