What have you done to your MSP today?

I went with
ARP Head Studs
ARP Main Studs
ACL Engine Bearing Kit
K1 Technologies Connecting Rods
Wiseco Pistons

I think stock is 9.1:1 and What Im getting is 9.0:1

Which I wont ever go about K1's 350-400 HP rating. More towards 300 for me. because I really dont have $ to do the trans up anytime soon hahaha. But in the end... I just want my effin' car running again!
 
^^ your gonna be spinning those wheels like crazy lol(drive2) but also quick question if you don't mind me asking, around how much was your build.. at least for the parts you listed above.. I plan on doing something just like that once I get an actual job... except for it's closer to the Gt28rs instead of the gt30 with the rods/pistons and all that, but I was also thinking I might try just a thicker head gasket to make it pretty much to have a 9.0:1 or 8.9:1 but what is safe to boost at 15psi or a little more depending on what is safe for a DD, but I thought at 9.0 even compression that it's only safe to boost 14 psi about.. but hmm, I've been thinking about this a ton lately, it will be a while sadly, I still want to add a SteedSpeed mani, the upgraded oil cooler, and FMIC to my build in addition to the other stuff.. I just wish I had the money! haha

but ya I guess how much for the stuff you listed above and the shop work, because I'm not 100% sure on what I would actually need to get done as far as engine work to replace the rods/pistons for what I am looking for

4500 for all the parts, and machinein, and aswell as A longblock.
 
And I done see ANY reason for 8.0:1 hahaha, that is way to low for protege's IMHO. Mainly when you wont get any of that power to the ground.
 
im trying to get to a point of say... 20 psi... daily... not taht i HAVE to be there... but i want to have the ability to run it... ya know? if my motor has blown before with 9.5:1 ( factory ) i dont wanna risk it..
 
ya I know what you mean, is factory really 9.5:1? if so that's pretty crazy, but ya I could do 9.0:1 and see you being safe I would think, should talk to Ken or Sam or someone that you are ordering these from about the build, they would be able to help you out for sure

Im worried about my msp today I drove it and it behaved as it always has in hot weather, no tonight i drove it and the power was a shock, i barely touched the gas and it took off, the rpms at idle are a little bit below 1000 rpm, the vac is about 20. I know it gets cooler at night but other nights at this temp i have not had the responsiveness i have had tonight. Its driving like it did when I first bought it.

Im scared, is this a precursor to doom? Is my engine gonna blow? is my turbo going out? is my lsd about to snap? Has anyone prior to tragedy had great performance fromt he msp? Should I be worried?
 
Haha calm down dude it sounds normal. Do you have a wideband? If not you need to get one asap to make sure your AFR's are normal. But don't be too alarmed yet if you are on stock boost I'm sure you are still running uber rich just got lucky with the temp change.

hahaha normal afr's on our cars. did it bog down when u took off? maybe the temp was colder that night ?

no it did not bog down at all that is what confused me I put my foot on the gas and it just took off I was literallys shocked and was all "wtf is going on?"

i dont think factory is 9.5:1
i thought it was 9.0:1...

and 20psi daily is going to be dumb lol you'll need some upgraded gears too if your shooting for tht high
