What have you done to your MSP today?

my msp did something to itself yesterday... was driving around at work and took a turn and heard a loud PING... rattlerattlerattle.... stopped looked at rear tires... and behold left sway bar link is gone... the entire thing is gone... good thing i ordered new ones recently.

Stupid question time...

Long story short I am looking to recirculate my BOV and I just wanted to try taking out the bypass valve completely but I don't have the 1" fitting welded to my intake yet. Though I was just thinking as I disconnected the BPV...would I be able to recirculate from the BOV on my cold pipe to the nipple on my hot pipe? I'm not sure if it is a 1" nipple but I am just thinking as a temporary solution, would that work? Or am I retarded? Here is a picture of my setup to try and help explain...

I would thick to just connect the recirculation fitting pipe from the BOV to the injen tube that is connected to the BPV now, and then just block off the nipple from your hot pipe with something and make sure it will hold under pressure... otherwise you just leave that tube on the injen connected to the BPV open the way you were describing it

if you connect one boost tube to another... you've accompished nothing. you need to connect it to the intake (before turbo)

Damn, I thought as long as it's before the intercooler I was okay...but I thought I would ask. Would it still be better than the dual setup or no?

edit: the reason I ask is because with the dual setup, I'm venting cold air, and recirculating hot air so it is pretty stupid. I do understand that the hot air is atleast going back to the intake, but I wasn't sure if that was absolutely necessary.

spent half the day pulling her appart to access the tranny.

friend of mine gave me a great deal on a lightly used spec stage 2+ thats gonna replace my stocker. hope i dont kill anything with such a harsh clutch, but it will speed up the modlist perhaps heh.

ps, pulling the stock intercooler piping out was a b****. they must glue that s*** on or somthing.
oh, what constitutes shaft play for a turbo? mine has a tiny bit of wiggle back and forth, side to side. not enough that i could actually measure it but you can feel it click over a very small amount.

well right now your venting cooled air, but the hot air you are recirculating is still going to pass through the IC and cool, I doubt it makes much of a difference anyways, I'd say it's more hassle then necessary IMO

took you half a day to pull apart everything to access the trans? Damn that just let me know i work on protege's wayyyyyyy to much ahaha

I noticed that when I first checked my turbo for shaft play, but then I realized it was really just the way I was moving it, I was gripping I think the end or bolt or w/e instead of the actual fin section/shaft, I dono it's hard to explain but if you actually put your fingers around the fin section and therefore the shaft and try to wiggle it, then you shouldn't notice really any shaft play, maybe a hairline movement but with any free spinning part I would think it wouldn't be 100% solid as a rock to begin with.. like I said it is hard to say what I mean without actually showing you.

I was thinking the same thing. I can have the engine out and back in with trans in about 5-6

when you gonna come by and take a rid in my car now that i got the mani on ? i got me a new ebc that should be here this weekend so i can tune out my spiking once i do that i think ill be comfortable at 10psi.

ill check it out some more while i still have daylight.

Pulling the engine bay stuff didnt take long really, but i spent some extra time on on the wheel assembly so i didnt **** it up. i have never done anything like this before on a car.
I mean, its not rocket science, but no need to rush and **** somthing up.

of course, i did get the bumper off in like 5 minutes. done that enough times heh. should have left it off when i did my hid ballast relocation and wiring though cause its still kind of a pia.

valk is a noob. read pretty much every single tech thread there is for this car but very little wrenching time. amazing with a lack of funds and a new baby can do heh.

i hear you man i meant know disrespect. it just gave me a good laugh thinking about how many times I've worked on protege's and how fast I've gotten at breaking them down and putting them back together. s*** i dont even bother separating bolts anymore since i pretty much can tell where a bolt goes by looking at it haha.

no. venting from the cold to the hot pipe will simply not work... the valve could open, but nothing would go through because there is equal pressure on both side.

question.... the bolts to drain and fill the tranny fluid are... both.. on the bottom? so i guess i have to refill this thing when the tranny is out? =(
