What have you done to your MSP today?

Well I just finished moving the Aux input wire for the SSAFC to read my wideband. I had it connected to the ECU harness because I'm a dumbass so I moved it to the 02 sensor wire on my wideband. Started it up and opened the real time function on the R4 software. The readings were a bit leaner than the gauge displays but I was happy to be getting a reading at all. Then of course I noticed my ABS and E-Brake lights won't go off. Checked the manual and all it tells me is to take it to the dealer ASAP.

****. My. Life.

my bet is you screwed up something in the ECU with all your fiddling.

An this is why I am having a tuner install and professionally tune my car when I get a SSAFC...

This is why I make sure I understand what I'm doing before I do it. No offense rick, but trying to read a wideband that has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING factory by tapping into your ECU was pretty dumb.

you should be able to get the ABS code read at autozone or something, that'll give you a better idea of whats screwed up, but I have a feeling I already know.

Also, make sure your wideband reading is properly calibrated in the datalogging. if you have it set up for a different range AFR than what your sensor is generating for voltage, your reading won't be correct.

The AFC is super super super easy to install, if you have any problems you should not mod your car period. (this statement was if you had the instructions)

Most likely.

To be honest I only touched what I thought I understood. To explain my original thinking, I had the wideband installed professionally (like almost everything else on the car) and I thought it was hooked up to the brown wire on the ECU harness since the instructions mentioned a brown wire being input and there were 4 separate brown wires on the ECU harness, which is the same amount of inputs available on the AFC. Maybe I'm crazy, but it made sense to me.

Well the only wire I've touched on the ECU was the solid brown wire so if anything it must be that.

Also, make sure your wideband reading is properly calibrated in the datalogging. if you have it set up for a different range AFR than what your sensor is generating for voltage, your reading won't be correct.

I hit the calibration button on the UEGO controller and it calibrated itself, but the readings remained the same.

I had the AFC installed professionally, but had no idea it could be datalogged at the time so the orange wires were left alone. Before touching anything with this unit I printed out every set of instructions available, about 5 total I believe.

So the reason why I started to do things myself lately is because I'm tired of paying money to people that jerk me around and waste my time. I bought the FMIC in January but just got it installed last weekend because I finally said **** it and did it myself. I can honestly say I installed everything the way it was meant to be. It doesn't fit perfect but that is not my fault at all because like all aftermarket parts it requires some fabrication.

People have given me s*** before because I never installed anything myself, so really I can't win. One of the reasons I bought this car instead of slapping a turbo on my Spec-V is that it had a turbo from the factory so I figured it would be much easier and more reliable. Boy was I wrong.

I mean calibrate the AFC's datalogging to properly log the WBO2 voltage, not the wideband itself.

4 brown wires on the ECU and 4 wires to datalog on the AFC is an unfortunate coincidence, however the WBO2 has NOTHING to do with the stock ECU, and the datalogging doesn't either. The reference to a brown wire is for a WBO2 completely different from what you have, so that misunderstanding is unfortunate as well.

Honestly, with your level of knowledge, slapping a turbo on your specV would have end up costing you WAY more, either to pay to have it done, or to fix it when something went wrong, so I think you made a good move there. You do seem to need to know more than you do just to be able to ask the right questions. I suggest more research before doing mods, you've got a GREAT resource at your disposal here and if you want my AIM I've got a couple ppl I already talk to on there regularly, just bulls*** and advice sharing as well. I talked to Dub for about 6 hrs about his FMIC before it went in.

Oh no man, your fine. I didnt mean it like he rick your stupid because you pay to get your stuff put on or you dont know how to do it.... im saying that it is easy to install that is it. alot of people are like its so hard toinstall and im just here to say its super easy. I respect you for at least trying to install your own stuff. I belive the more you try the more you will learn. so more power to ya man.

Also, Rick, I'm not trying to harsh on you, just want to try to make your life easier with this modding thing. Hopefully save you some money and some headache.

Yea I entered the numbers in the aux inputs box as well by using the calculator.

I really thought I was doing it right or else I would not have touched it.

Well I definitely would have had it done professionally, especially since that was a few years ago and before now I've never done anything to a car, I would just spectate as a professional does it all so I can learn.

Sorry guys I wasn't really directing that towards you, but that's the kind of s*** that I have put up with. I have been more than cautious with this car because there is a lot of money in it, and I'm not exactly rich. The biggest thing that made me want this car was the fact that I really loved the way my MP3 handled and it was just so much fun to drive, even with a measly 140hp. So when I heard of a turbocharged version I knew I had to have it. I just should have kept looking for a better one.

you're sure the numbers are calibrated for the correct voltages vs output for that wideband sensor though? the wideband gauge and the datalog should agree if it is in calibration.

Well it wasn't that far off so I may have. The gauge was reading 14.6-14.4 at idle and the AFC was reading 15.1-14.8 and if I understand the directions right, I had to input the maximum and minimum reading my gauge will display. Those numbers are 20 max and 10 min. When I entered those numbers and hit calculate it gave me 10 and 2. That sound right?

edit: I also typed in the 0 and 5 for voltage.

Just edited the post. Maybe different gauges have slightly different voltage ranges. Either way I'm a little more concerned with the warning lights.

I'm a little afraid to drive it, but I would feel better knowing what a scanner tells me. So I guess it's off to autozone, advance, or wherever the car stops first.

Well I went to Advance and had it scanned. It was a kid who looked younger than me (I'm 21) that scanned it and he said he couldn't find any codes. Sounds weird but I really hope he's right, because if so, it is probably just a loose connection at the wire I ****** with.

Though I'm still worried because he complimented my car and I thanked him, but then he started going on about how he wants to get a Prelude with V-Tec and asked how fast I've gone in my car...So I kinda lost all faith that he was using the scanner correctly.

Im looking for a used perrin or turbolife fmic..... if you all have one for sale let me know.

Whatever you do get t-bolt clamps for it and when you go cutting the hole go bigger then needed seriously... The previous ower tried to get away with just barely cutting it large enough... to make a long story short the core support cut through both of the couplers... I drove all over town to find some couplers.... royal pita and worm clamps blow major donkey balls!!!! I blew my hot pipe today.

I asked him that and he said it can read any code... this is what I was talking about. All the ******* idiots I have to put up with when I go places to get help with my car.

I think you can rent scanners, I would try and see if you could and do it yourself because all the people that work or at least the ones I have ran into at AutoZone and advance Auto are really stupid and no nothing. I asked for an Oil filler cap that goes on the top of our engines and the guy had no idea what I was talking about lol, I told him he should probably work somewhere els.
