+1 for vibrant, I had the CS exhaust on for a little while when I bought the car, (and my brother has the cs exhaust on his car now, it's more of a mid frequency tone, and does drone a little more compared to a vibrant kinda "gurgle/growl" I would say, if my brother's car was working correctly I would do a drive by vid.. but can't right now) but anyways, I then switched it back to my vibrant, I used to put the silencer in when I went on the highway, but now I don't care, I just got use to it, and turn up the music, or have the windows down, but anyways with the silencer in, it's really quite, quieter than the cs exhaust, maybe by far if I remember, it's been a while since I've used it, but the vibrant is a deeper tone, they both sound great, but I love vibrant, and the cat is great with emissions
 
Drove my potential soon to be MSP

I'm hooked! For being a protege, i LOVE the feel of the stock MSP over my modified Pro5

Callie was impressed as well
 
finally got my car back together after a week of down time

replaced the drivers side wheel bearing, axle, axle seal, tranny fluid (penzoil synchromesh) and primary o2 sensor

now I still need to do the belts, tires and WGA...man this car is really not letting up with the maintenance this year

i thought about a front mount but i really don't like the idea of drilling holes in the frame. and some require routing the cold pipe through the CAI hole...but i have a CAI so yea.
 
I am already planning a fmic with hks bov and Sri from altered customs. As well as an sd afc. Then vibrant exhaust and 626 im and call it a day

+2, I had the same idea, and I got into much much more than I thought I would.. and when I crashed my first msp.. I couldn't think about not having it again.. now it's just a matter of money before I get the forged internals/disco potato, switch to FMIC (but don't want to reroute my CAI, so I will have to do some cutting, but I will make it work when I do) and a full standalone.. so still have a ways to go, and I'm sure once I get there.. I will find something else.. or just buy another car (sti/evo or something by that time maybe) and start on that one

That's the extent of my mods. I doubt I will get it all right away.

But that should tide me over for a while

OK.... Here are a couple pics to show what I did. They set it up so you can just have the rubber bumper resting on the inside fender well. I was worried that it would rattle that way, so I used a small hole that was there from the reservoir mounting points and ran the bolt up from underneath, slid the bumper over, and tightened down the nut to hold it in place. The hole is threaded, so if you think its easier, you can also take a bolt that threads into the hole and cut the head off the bolt. Thread one end into the hole, then slide the bumper over and nut it down.

The filter has two bands. The one closest to the MAF (that secures the filter to the MAF) loops under the "L" shape part of the bracket (at the top end). Make the band about as loose as it will go. Then work the filter through the band and onto the MAF and tighten the band. When its tight its secured to the bracket which is secured to the inner fender well. The filter sits right over the round hole that others run their intake pipe down through, but is up off the fender well to allow for better air circulation around the filter.

By the way, the pics also show where I relocated the reservoir to, just behind the driver-side headlight.

well i did my exhaust manifold gasket today.. that was EASY!!! i thought there was a broken bolt..but to my happiness, there was not! just a missing one. got a new gasket.. now i need to track down the other leak.. that one was hurting performance like no ones business.!!

Hooray for no broken bolt... that must've shaved an hour or more off the job!(rockon)
 
What did I do to my MSP today? Hmmmm

Oh yeah, that's right, I had a hell of a drift in completely dry conditions on tires that perform like R-comps. I went into the offramp way faster than I should have, and it went right, and then flicked left. I took the right nicely, but a small bump and light braking broke the tail end loose. I thought I was straight between the curves, but apparently not, cause I got on the brakes a little, then flicked it back left and the tail stepped way out. No problems countersteering and holding it, but I never realized HOW much the AXR brackets tighten up the swaybar. I guess I need to start driving the car like it has RWD, or at least AWD...

I used to be able to trail brake into turns, or at least stay off the throttle to help the rear stay neutral. Now, I guess I need to get my braking done earlier, then turn in with a little gas to keep the car balanced - more "steering" with the throttle than anything else. All its gonna take is adjusting my driving habits and style to match the new character of the car... LOVE IT!!
 
going to a powder coating place tomorrow to see what they can do for my wheels. this is my first go at it, just wondering if there are certain things i should ask or look for? there was discussion recently about "high heat" powder coating causing wheels to crack? and input/tips are much appreciated....

dude. i was just thinking.. white wheels would be SWEET!!! with a yellow stripe... oh yeah.
