What have you done to your MSP today?

I miss the old type S. I'm buying that fake type S as soon as funds are available.

how much are the fake ones? i got my real one on ebay for $175 shipped and it came on a pipe which i couldnt reuse. theres a company on ebay that sells 6 in pipes with almost any flange for $21 shipped, pretty darn good deal.

pm me the company info. and how much, I'm not sure how much the fake ones are and I'd rather have a real one.

I know where to get them(fake ones) but, on saturday I went there and they didn't have any more. They used to have like 30 of them. I didn't ask if they had more or if they could get more though, or if they just moved them.

The RS sucks when you have no cats and 3in. downpipe. The type S is so loud.

well theres several diff companies. just do an ebay search for bov adapters and pick whichever one you like the best. i narrowed it down to two diff ones and picked the one that came with a gasket.

I might be getting my car back today, not like I can drive it with my knee recovering from surgery. The repair shop is actually delivering it to my house today or tomorrow.

damn it, I coulda had one, why did you throw it away tho? I don't know how they sound I've never heard a fake one.

They probably sound similar if not the same though. Some say they start to not work or break though after awhile.

I mean, i wouldn't doubt if the fake ones are just about as good as the real ones. A bov really isn't that complicated...how hard could it be to fab one of already made plans.

livelyjay, congrats on the car i know that's been long-awaited. But sorry about the knee man, sucks.

installed boost gauge! vac is at 25 at idle and boost just about goes to 5! now i want to up the boost! im waiting to install the cai. ill probally do it tomorrow

dude,!

if you have a mazdaspeed at stock boost (6psi)
please, do yourself a favor and check your boost gauge, it is broken!!

you must never have 25 on idle and be boosting 5 psi.
it just don't happen at stock boost...

thats what i thought! how do i know its broke?

that's definatly bad

get a vaccum tester at autozone and test the boost gauge

it'll suck if you up the boot to 10 and actually you raising it to 14

yea vac of 25 is pretty dang high. or low, whatever. Mine is 20-21 at idle, and all the MSP's ive driven are usually 21-22.

Whats a normal vacuum reading? 20? I know mine reads that and it only gets up to 4 psi, sometimes 5.. lol

Anyways, I fixed the crack in my downpipe and I gutted my cat.. Hopefully Ill get to see some fireballs pretty soon.. lol

its weird, i just took it out again and when i was at the stop sign it was at 20vac and when im driving and i let my foot off the gas it goes to like 23-24. when the car is turned off the needle is at 3 vac. is it supposed to be at 0? is that the problem? how much for a vac tester?

Car off: 0 vac.
Idle: 20-22 vac.
Decelerating in gear: 22-26ish vac (to answer you: yes, that's normal)

full boost SHOULD be somewhere close to 6-6.5psi, but i have heard of some getting as low as 4. Pretty sure that's not normal though.

get in third gear, about 35-40mph, put the gas on the floor. The needle should jump VERY quickly to 0vac, then pause and start building boost. If it jumps to 3vac and pauses i should think you've got an issue. There's one quick test. But it should def. be 0 vac when turned off.

If you call the company that made the gauge, i would think that they will either re-calibrate it or replace it, no questions asked. try that if you think it's off. But check the line for any bends, kinks, or leaks. I super-glued the hose connection into the T and into the guage so it was sealed 100%; and my line is hard plastic/vinyl so it can't bend very easily (no kinks).
