This might be dumb, but make sure you're getting the right cap for your application. The manual transmission radiators and caps are different from the autos. You need to be careful with aftermarket radiators as well. I have the CS radiator and it requires and auto radiator cap even though my P5 is manual.

doesnt the cap release pressure? If it was overpressuring wouldnt it just release it since the cap does the regulating. The cap raises pressure to raise the boiling point then releases pressure once it hits the designated psi. If you dont have the overflow blocked off i would imagine it would bleed the pressure off.

mostly, if it takes forever and a day for your car to reach operating temp...they said it was the right cap but you know how things go haha, but i was planning on getting the cs rad sometime so that info is good to know, how do i know if the t/stat is bad?

it warms up just fine, some times it will over heat sometimes it wont, sometimes there is a puddle under the car sometimes there is not haha

is there a kink in your overflow tank line?
I had a bad rad cap and it would cause the overflow bottle to keep filling up untill it spilled out after the car was turned off....new cap solved this...

yeah, that simply sounds like a bad rad cap... (obvious) lolit warms up just fine, some times it will over heat sometimes it wont, sometimes there is a puddle under the car sometimes there is not haha

its always empty, even if i fill it it will end up being empty

Sounds like you have a much larger problem than your rad cap being bad. Your coolant is going somewhere. And my guess is that your getting quite a bit of vacuum on your coolant system causing the cap to do that. You need to get your coolant system presure tested

yeah when i romp on it and then go fast on the freeway it tends to heat up, or when im in boost alot
