What have you done to your MSP today?

finally got one of the heads clear of my mx3 and man thats not a friendly engine to work on IN a car. im sure its a different story on a stand ect but getting the front bank out took a bunch of fiddle farting heh.
sooner i get this project done the sooner i start working on my MSP!

though driving around today.. i definitely miss my old clutch.. i went to an exedy stage 1 and ill be selling it off really cheap when the car gets opened up. going back to the spec 6 puck. just felt so much better to me.
so if anyone wants a exedy with less than 10000 km on it for like... $100, shoot me a pm and we can sort it out.

ill prob start a build thread when i get my pope stuff. decided i probably will do a moderate build to the car just haven't totally blocked it out. it will be a year plus venture that will involve replacing about $5000 worth of oem stuff with aftermarket, and building the motor to take a gtx turbo. possibly a 3071r but thats kinda... a lot. a 2871r would probably be plenty but whenever i start s*** like this, i wanna do it ALL.

Long story short. This happened.

A 6 wagon? I like the 6s, but unless it was an MS6, i dont think it would feel the void the MSP would leave.

Speaking of 6 wagons, i was about to post this in the 6 forum.

I saw a bone stock 6 wagon, white, with an old lady driving it and rhe wheels were black in the center and center c ap but ir hadMazda emblems on them and the spokes were regular alloy coloring. Looked like 17s and definitely looked like a factory wheel, but not one I've seen before. They werent the twisted spokes and more closely resembles an 8s wheel.

Edit: Found them i think. I didnt realize they were a split spoke, but the center looks identical. http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/crop/200701/2007-mazda-6-19_600x0w.jpg

Yes a 6 wagon w/ 5-speed & v6. I'm not saying it's as fast (182 hp & 164 tq at the wheels!) or handles as well, but it's fun to drive and doesn't make me miss my MSP. I was turning 22 and single when I originally bought the MSP; Now I'm 30, married, have one girl, a boy on the way and a project car in my garage. My needs for a DD have changed and that probably has a lot to do with not missing the MSP either.

I think those wheels were on '06 or '07 GT models.

I understand. Same boat. I have a daughter that will be 5 in August and another on the way due in November. I have the MSP as my toy, the RX8 as my daily (4 doors!!) and my girlfriend has a 6s.

Used zmax fuel and oil treatment use to get around 285 to 290 per tank now 315 to 310 per tank..stuff works pretty good..

What didn't you like about the Exedy? I've only read good things about the stage 1.

Exedy is the factory clutch in the MSP, I have a stage 1 and it works great. 99% of MSPs don't need any more than a stock clutch anyway.

there must be somthing wrong with the hydraulics of my car. when it does work, it works quite nice, but it seems that im adjusting that rod every other week. when its out, it feels like it slips and when its good, it still bounces off second on occasion.
ah well. when its all apart ill give it a good inspection. it also rattles. if you sit still in neutral you can hear a rattle from the clutch that goes away with the clutch in. i know the transmission has some issues atm but you dont get the same rattle just coasting down a hill with clutch in.

ill have a lot of things to look at when i get it off the road. though i did like the stage 2 plus a lot more once i got used to it.

I replaced my clutch master a few days ago. I expected it. Had to double clutch it all the time. Feels so much better now. Hopefully be gettng a new set of tires soon. Currently running. Falken Ziex 912s because it was still a daily driver. Thinking of something sticky no.

just something else to add to the list.

all the s*** i want to change out almost makes the forged bottom end a ps attachment to the bottom of the page lol. i saw a thread about that somewhere and cant find it now. build fs preparation guide?

ill prob upgrade the clutch ANYWAY just because having taken the tranny out twice already, i dont wanna do it again if i dont have to. ill pay out hte $350 and make sure i can almost never have to pull the trans again.
well... until that one wears out. Im even thinking of some par gears now lol.. does mfactory make gears for our cars? looking on their site there arent any prices so i imagine that means custom. maybe a little cheaper than par engineering.

I dont imagine id bother with more than one or two sets of par gears though. second and third gear at the very most as i dont plan to road race, ill auto x from time to time and i just cant afford the tickets 4th and 5th gear would make lol.
bulletproof trans, bulletproof block, moderately larger turbo, new suspension everything. should be a nice car i can beat on safely.

Fixed the radom rattles. Found change and a random container of lip gloss in the carpet on the driver side. Some of it was in a hole in the floor board. Also found out the 2nd O2 sensor was loose too. Replaced the poly exhaust hangers with the stock rubber. It fits a little better , but it seems like it is still lower than what it should be. Now I just need to post FS pics of the CorkSport exhaust, poly hangers, and the Team Dynamic Motorsport wheels I have.

going to swap TB's tomorrow, hopefully ending my search for my boost leak -crosses fingers-

i-jCVp4Dd-XL.jpg

well, that took care of my tb leak. did a leak test. all checks out fine. sprayed tb cleaner all over while car was running. found nothing. still only boosting 1-2psi at best. wastegate? i replaced oem one with an ATP 40-50k miles ago. how often do these things go bad? im hoping its not the flap inside the turbo :|

Wastegate itself is orobably sticking against the housing. Theres a thread about it and i experienced something similar. Pilled the turbo.and the shaft for the wasyegate actuator had come out of the housong and allowed the wastegate to get jammed open against the housing and couldnt build more than 3psi.

Anyway...

I think Ive got the MSP maxed out on power with the GT25 maxed out at 16psi. Ive got a good tune that puts me in the high 11s, low 12s. Once I peak at 18 to 19, it immediately drops to about 16.7 16.8 and there is nothing left with 11.8 to 12.4 AFRs. Took me a couple of hours to do it after hooking up and setting up the Aux. Input settings. It would scream if i had a gt28 and some decent engine management I think. Went to a meet tonight and had a ton of people checking it out and sticjing their heads through the windows. Got 2 compliments on my exhaust sound. Overall, i jad a good day.

Wow, I'm surprised the stock turbo will hold 16psi to redline. I thought for sure it would max out lower than that.
