What have you done to your MSP today?

yup, if you don't plan on doing any bolt ons, I wouldn't think about getting a boost controller. The ssafc still makes a difference on a stock car, but don't waste the money on a boost controller if you aren't going to mod it. I ran 8 psi without the afc and it sucked big time. Added the afc and it made a world of difference.

I want the wheel gap to be gone!!!

that's how mine sat with stock front springs. I bought a set of Tein S Techs from an old former member and put the fronts on and got too lazy to put the rear springs on. So, I have S Techs up front with stock RB springs in rear and have been that way for a while now. The rear S Techs are just sitting in my garage collecting dust.

Yeah, I've seen your sig for a while now and was wondering if that's why... So, that's it... I had thought about doing the same thing. lol

Well I have the FMI set up with BOV and a cork sport J pipe and the SLS mid pipe... I think that's about it though ... I would do more to it if I had the money and if it wasn't a daily driver too ... Need it to be reliable for the most part ...

Then DO NOT get a manual boost controller! More importantly, DO NOT turn up the boost at all! Especially with an MBC

Yes, EBCs are less likely to allow a boost spike... The higher the quality, the less likely it is to happen... A standalone system is a bit overkill unless you plan on going batshit crazy with mods and are aiming for high horsepower numbers. Plus you'd have to have someone tune it...

Also, set up an appointment at a local performance shop to replace the exhaust manifold gasket on my car. It's causing a huge leak which will hopefully fix my idle (and horrible boost leak). They are asking $260 for the part, plus labor and tax, although I had already bought a Felpro gasket previously. Good price?

From a shop managers viewpoint, that's about right. From a tech that can do it myself, I'd never pay that. It's pretty straight forward.

Sweet! I'm just a bit skeptical about messing with the gasket since I've heard there's a good possibility for one of the studs breaking off into the head, which would be a major problem. I would definitely consider doing it myself if I had a decent selection of tools and such. And since I own the part already, I'm hoping it should drop the price a few bucks too. So I think it's worth the price, eh?

I wouldn't say it's required, but recommended. I run a Joe P MBC with the ssafc with no problems and have been for the past few years. I don't stomp on the gas from light to light every day, but the car does see a fair amount of boost on every drive when it's running right.

Well, with the unpredictability of these engines, I think I would go EBC just to be safe. And trust me, on daily commutes I drive like a grandma! My car hardly sees boost when driving to school, work, etc. I'm not trying to put any unnecessary wear and tear on the engine and thus risking any more stupid problems.

im in boost all the time. there's rarely a time i go for a drive that i don't hit full boost. maybe not full rpm's but at least 4k.

trans out seals replaced and ready for paint and reinstallation tomorrow
