What have you done to your MSP today?

installed my egt gauge into the vent pod..thought about installing my rear motor mount and perrin fuel rail but then got to working on my truck and now its dark out..i hate not having a garage.

Today, i crossed my fingers and did a compression check on my baby. Two years, 52k miles, and 8 to 11psi later....

210 / 210 / 210 / 220

...ohh yeah! Shes still holdin strong :D And while i was at it, i went ahead and cleaned my NGK's and installed my 440cc injectors....again, i crossed my fingers hoping they would play nice with my Unichip. Popped them in and its doing great! Im actually running alot more richer, hey its better than being lean ;)

And i also SEA-FOAMED the hell outta my car, and its uber clean....had a smoke trail for blocks. I highly recommend everyone using this at least twice a year....your gas mileage will sky rocket, and your car will run so much smoother.

i got my rear cupholder JDM part from Ken @ protegegarage. Waiting to install, but i did put on (pretty easy) my CF armrest cover. Looks real clean. Highly recommend that part.

i got my dsm afc wired up but it one work for some reason. still messing with it right now. waiting on pg manifold and intake cam to come in before installing and powdercoating stuff.

Today I got my license plate relocation bracket from password jdm so I installed that. No more getting pulled over for no front plate woo hoo!

Ive done the sea foam thing before to a truck but never really was up to putting it into my car, afraid id mess something up I guess. Do you put it in the gas or what?

Put half a cup in a vaccum line running to the intake manifold, and just let it rip (more steps than that, but u get the idea :)) Took a couple seconds of sputtering and wanting to shut down....just lightly rev through it, and you have your gunk & junk of smoke for blocks. I let it idle for 5-10 minutes afterward and drove around the block a few time cause there was white smoke still running out. After that i put half a cup in my engine oil, and the rest of the bottle in my gas.....reason being, i had just installed wrx injectors and wanted to make sure they were cleaned along with my fuel lines.

I hold the car at 3k rpms the whole time I'm sucking it through the brake booster.

As for your WRX injectors.. I'm assuming they are used out of a WRX?

Be careful.. I never thought it was a big deal running used injectors until I had my injectors tested along with some used injectors that my roommate got off a guy on Turbobricks.com (volvo forum)..

check this video and see how ridiculously different the flowrates on them are:

40 dollars to clean all the injectors, they do a crazy good job at New Era Performance. I'm sure a shop more local to you has the same cleaning setup, this is just a vid from the shop local to me here

they use this setup for cleaning:

Brake Booster! couldnt remember what the hell that was called :) Yea, i ran in through there also. And yea, the injectors are from a Subie.....thats a good idea, i may look into that for shops around Houston. I just used Contact Cleaner from my job, sprayed them down and soaked em. Then ran Lucas Injector cleaner along with lots of SeaFoam to make sure i cleaned em the best i could.

Thanx for the heads up.

RC Engineering is tha bomb with injectors! They clean and blueprint the injector telling you everything about them, look them up

thanks guys...i found a thread on it around here somewhere. I just dont wanna mess anything up u know.

Anyone know if I want to get a instrument cluster from a 2000 protege, are the harnesses the same? There is a few on ebay from junkyards and they have black faces. It looks the same exact as the new protege's... They say something about "without keyless entry." Is there going to be any problem with this if I get it?

U want black faces? Mine have black faces, but no tach:(

If you really want the black faces, try to get one from at least a 2002 Protege. I think the 99/00 ones have different wiring harnesses since they had the 1.6/1.8

Aww... really? I know mine has 3 plugs / harnesses. So it probably won't work with the 2000+

Yeah to be totally sure you could get one from like.. a 2002-3 Protege LX.. it'll have a tach and be black faced, and they all had the same engine as the msp.

Or if you wanted white gauge faces instead of the MSP silver gauges you could get an EARLY 2002 Protege5 or a Protege MP3 gauge cluster.
