What have you done to your MS3 today?

Pulling the stock turbo off today. Smoke shows at idle after driving for a bit have become frequent. Throwing on my friend's stocker and upgrading next year. Stupid turbo design.

What did you do with your AP? Raise idle? I have the Hypertech tune and I raised my idle by 200 rpm back when I put the tune on. Does the AP do something different/else to help the smoking turbo issue? I'm going to swap the turbo now with my buddy's stocker. I'm getting it for $100. I'm going to then look for a very low mileage stocker as another back up. I thought about upgrading but the lowest cost option would be a PG reworked turbo and then I would have to upgrade to the AP and all that. I'm happy with my power levels and I just want to have a safe tune on stock turbo. The Hypertech gives me that with no headaches at all.

Man every time I'm on the verge of buying an MS3 I read about another smoking issue and it scares me away.

I will not jinx myself by saying, "80,000 on my 2007 with no smoke". I won't say it, so don't try and make me.

Won't go into my car's maintenance history haha

About to turn 45k. Ordering Nitto 555s, ill miss the grip from the starspecs, but the wallet appreciates the thought

Will be fun to spin 3rd all day long. Hopefully these last more than 2 seasons/8k miles

8.5, have you tried Sumitomo HTR-ZIII? They have good grip and are pretty wallet friendly and are technology from the past few years instead of decades ago (I remember putting 555's on my car in the late 90's).

(eek2) only 8k miles? Any track time/autocrosses on 'em?

nahh
