What have you done to your MS3 today?

lol im waiting for nice weather .

oh this weekend will be a good change for the northeast, and im guessing this thread will fill up with "just wash/waxed." im gonna try to do that myself, and hopefully not get too depressed when im out and see everyone with their bikes whizzin' around, cuz im sure that will be happening too

Well the other day I started hearing a noise when I went WOT to make a gap in traffic. It sounded like a poping noise almost like anit-lag but I wasn't shifting or using my 2-step. It wasn't overly loud though. So I then took a look at my LTFT and STFT and saw them bouncing all over the place in the positive direction. I concluded that I must have a leak somewhere past the MAF and the unmetered air is causing the motor to add extra fuel to compensate and this extra fuel is causing the popping.

I'm currently in the process of tearing the motor apart looking for my leak. I have my intake, turbo inlet (replacing with Cobb), intercooler, battery, ect sitting out in front of my car. I'm going to pull the intercooler tubes tonight and look for holes since they were designed for 14.5 psi and I'm running 18.5 its possible one of them ballooned and popped. Problem is one of the clamps on the front tube is impossible to get to and thats where I stopped last night. I'll continue on this after work tonight.

If anyone else has suggestions I'm all ears. This needs to be solved before my tune on the 16th.

BPV/BOV? maybe. Or maybe you just had the stock turbo inlet loose, or a clamp loose. I would go with SU boost tubes if I were running higher boost just as a precaution. Maybe you should re-clamp/tighten everything down again and take a look.

That's what I'm doing for now. Probably won't finish tonight since I'm spent from work and school.

Drove mine for the first time in a week.
Was in NYC for a week, so it felt weird to drive again.

Oh. It needs a wash and wax like whoa.

more to come...

Wash mine once a month at the minimum. Sometimes twice. Claybar and wax once a year typically. Not enough but I'm too lazy...

I would install intake first! I did and was able to tell the difference when I installed TIP immediately. Try it and you will see

Put the spurs to her.

My local 1/4 mile strip opened today and I went. Temp was mid 50's and alot of people came out.

My first run was against a c-4 vette (auto), not sure what year. The guy on the PA said "It looks like the little "toyota" is out matched in this race but maybe his accelerator will stick and give him more power." I'm sure he was shocked when I spun my wheels and still ran a 13.7 @ 106 mph to the vettes 13.9 @ 104. I got a lot of attention after that with the announcer calling my car the "sleeper" on my next pass and corrected himself about calling it a toyota.

The second pass was almost perfect, I hit second smoothly and it grabbed, no hop just go. my best 60 ever, 2.154. I have Hankook V12's in stock size on the car. I ended up running 13.392 @ 107.15, my best ET and my fastest trap ever. I lost the race off the line with an awful .341. I'm on the right, car #58. I won't be going back anytime soon unless I have a set of drag radials which is not in my budget right now. I need a Fuel pump and down pipe before I buy DR's.

sewed a custom shifter boot. wanted something a little different! ordered a blox knob as well, stock knob doesn't really look right and i never liked the shape of it anyway.

New battery since the stock one took a crap.

Excuse the filthy engine bay.

what a tool....you think an anouncer at a drag strip might know a little something about cars, since that's what he deals with constantly. at least the make of a car

Like many today, I washed my 'Speed. In my case, it was the first time I did so (by hand, not the touchless) since buying it in November.

I also installed AccessTUNER Race and did some data logging. Since I have no clue what I'm doing, I'm just playing around with the data. This is some pretty powerful software, I can't wait to learn more about tuning my car. Also, the rear motor mount is by far (so far) the best mod I've done. Talk about a significant positive change in the driving experience.
