What have you done to your Miata today?

If they're going to be dedicated track use what about the Nitto NT-01 or the new Toyo RR? They R-compounds at the RS-3 price range.
those toyo rr look good,
I originally wanted to go with toyo r888s but if I wanted to stay in street class for goodwin racing/extreme speed's miata challenge I could not use tires with a better rating than140 utqg. I am considering going to mod class though so i could use 100 utqg tires. toyo r888 are rating at 100utqg

Good luck with that, RS3 is only available in 225/45-15 for 15in wheel sizes AFAIK. But there's nothing wrong with 225s ;)
darn, I will look into it. I may end up doing something else instead.

Make sure that you're not getting water in the oil, please..... unless you really like roasted crank bearings.

So... anyone have any suggestions on how to get a Mazda locking lug off without the key? I desperately need to rotate my tires and can't find my damn key anywhere.

i meant the spots within the oil (You can see 2 different consistencies)
I am due for an oil change anyways so we'll see what it looks like then i guess.

but no white smoke from the exhaust or sweet smell (just black/blue from burning oil through the valve guide seals)

You'd get the smell and smoke from the exhaust if you were getting oil into the combustion chamber from the HG, not if water's going into the sump. Again, it's hard to tell from what you've shown. But unless you mean you need an oil change *NOW* I wouldn't put too many miles on it unless you think an engine swap is easier than a head gasket job...

Smaller than correct size 12pt socket + sledge hammer.

If you don't mind ruining the locking lugs, you could always take an older socket that is 'just to small' for the lug and hammer it on using your trusty BFH and then use a breaker bar to remove them. Of course you'll trash your locks and a socket or two. Alternative would be to order a new key from Mazda.

This is the way to do it.

Typically, if they're manufacturer lugs, they're not universal. There's generally a handful of different patterns.

You might get lucky trying someone else's though. I doubt it though, there wouldn't be much point of locking lugs if it was that easy to get the key.

getting ready for the LRP party this fri....did the fog deletes finally (one of mine ran into a rock at 10PSI), cleaned the engine bay, siliconed all the weather stripping, rotated the conti's...more to come this week
