What have you done to your Miata today?

Fired her up! Unfortunately the 'charger belt keeps jumping off, I tried a few adjustments but I'm going to have to do some research to find out what I need to do. Still nice finding out there are no leaks or loose things after all I changed.

Autocross today, and the car felt GREAT on totally clapped out tires. The brake change was definitely a success. There was a lot more modulation that could be done, and it even took to a little of trail braking, which the car never liked. For a completely free mod save the work, any noticeable change, IMO, is a success. This definitely was. I can't wait to try it out on some fresher tires at our next event :D

ya, it looks like fiberglassed flat?

No... click the link for details. It'll all make sense. There's no fiberglass in there. That's just where the factory spray guns didn't reach because the parts are painted after they're fully assembled, so, with the bracing in place.

Went to drive it this AM and she's not running on all 4

Checked plugs and wires (swapped out all 4 with my old set that was still working)

No change

Could it be a coil pack? I can disconnect plugs 2&3 while its running and it stays running. Unplug 1 or 4 and it dies.

Thoughts please? And no, no CEL's because the link ecu doesn't display them

Definitely sounds like a dead coil. Swap the 1&4 and 2&3 coil packs to see if the problem follows the coil-pack.

Got her running (finally)!!! I messed with it earlier today (after running yet more errands with the boss). The three shimming washers helped a lot, I checked pulley alignment and was able to get it spot-on. However when I ran the car the belt still moved off one rib and I was hearing some unusual noises that sounded like they were coming from the nose of the supercharger. I tried making more adjustments but there was no change. Came inside to cool off, took an afternoon nap (I was thinking about things, honest!). Went back out a little bit ago and checked the horizontal plane of both pulleys with my small level. The supercharger appeared to be more level than the crank pulley (remember, the engine is slightly higher in the front) so I removed the two rear bolts and pushed down on the rear of the 'charger. This time when I started it the belt immediately jumped completely off. So, I put the bolts back in again and put the belt back on. Started the car to see how it was, and the belt stayed on and in place! I did start using the belt the guy sent me with the kit which shouldn't have an impact because it's the same as the new one I bought (just has some usage on it). I revved the engine and it was making happy noises and the belt stayed where it was. Hooray!!!! There is a part of me that is annoyed because I don't know specifically what fixed the problem.

I guess this counts as an upgrade FOR the miata, right? Added 3 tie-downs to the trailer this morning. This should be a lot better / easier to work with than tieing down to the trailer's frame as I'd been doing.

Yes, the raw metal has been painted over before surface rust started building up.

So new coil pack in and now every time i go into boost it knocks. . . . (keypad is keeping track of how many times)

So after my trip home, i had 3 knocks showing. I did a store on the keypad so it SHOULD fix the issue, but each time i save the new tune, i'm losing powa

So, hopefully if it's not raining and Callie's up to it, gonna have her try and help me tune it (She'll monitor the keypad and see how it goes)

DY! NO! DY! NO!

Take it to a Dyno and get it tuned properly man! Find someone familiar with the hardware and get it done right and stop ******' with it lol

New thermostat yesterday which (mostly) solved the overheating problem I have been experiencing. Last night I bought a square top intake manifold. This morning I bedded in the new brakes. Now it's off to cars and coffee.

Koni's are rebuildable (their facility is literally up the road from me) but I know they are a bit expensive.

Been a depressing couple of days. On the way home from C&C Saturday, I heard a strange noise so pulled over. Found the crank overlay pulley (that drives the supercharger) was wobbling. Shut her down and got a tow home. When I got around to removing things I found three of four bolts sheared off, just below the surface of the crank flange. Today I was doing other things but sourced a 90 degree drive adapter for my drill as well as some left-handed drill/remover tools that will hopefully work. I think once I get enough room to work (out comes the radiator again) the bolt stubs will back out while I am drilling. Hopefully anyway. Meantime I did some searching and found a spacer that will fit between the overlay and factory crank pulleys. For some reason Mazda used two different crank pulleys on cars from '99-01 (according to Gary at Track Dog Racing) and the steel one that I have needs the spacer. I knew this from my collection of instructions but the PO had it installed on a 2000 MY like mine and he didn't have one. At that time I didn't know the two types of pulleys were in use at the same time.
