What have you done to your Miata today?

I hope you kept each individual HLA together?
Which reminds me, I totally forgot to post this the other day, but I switched to a heavier weight oil (20w50) because I was sick of HLA noise. As soon as the car got warm, it clattered more than an air-cooled VW lol. We ran the car at the Atlanta Region Novice school this weekend, and ran it hard. Run after run after run (I think 18 total, with not much time between), and the lifters never made a tick (har har har). It was a refreshing change
.i forgot to mention, went from 10w30 to 10w40 (since i got a case for free) and also poured in a bottle of Lucas Oil stablizer
She smokes like a fiend now if it idles for more than a minute
Lifter tick is gone though but the "under load" rattle clanking sound is still there (IE 4-5th gear low rpm's and i press the gas)

Yar, each HLA assembly was kept together, and returned to its original spot in the engine. Some were pretty badly bound up and/or had iffy oil in them, but overall it was way better than this write-up: http://www.miata.net/garage/hla/cleaning.html which makes me think this engine was exceptionally well cared for.

Finished cleaning up my front suspension and pulled the rear diff to put rubber bushings back in.
Got the new caliper bracket yesterday and put my rear left brakes back together. It is still generating more dust than all of the other corners inexplicably. The car doesn't seem to pull to any particular direction when braking so I'm inclined to not worry about it.
Also, put the hard top in prep for the track this weekend.

filled her with gas...my avg miles per gal keep going up, combined city/higway last fill up 29 mpg! i'll take it! interesting to note, since i've been tracking it (last 2 yrs) i've gone almost 17k miles and my avg cost per mile has been .17

I switched from 10w-40 to 5w-30 and it fixed my lifter tick (and it makes it easy because that's what I use in the MS3). It comes back after about 5k miles on an oil change if I ever let it go that far which is extremely rare.
Damn... where are you losing it? Have you done a leakdown test?
i don't really know where it's going
It's been pouring rain ever day so it's hard to tell if the grounds got oil puddles (although losing ALL the oil would be fairly obvious i'd think)
The only other thing that changed is i installed the sandwich plate (so it COULD be coming out there) but i have noticed it's smoking a lot more (or at least i can smell it more now with the new oil and lucas in it)
