that's great maff. How do you feel on those tires, if you used them before? they grip well?

I am thinking of getting these wheels off a friend. let me know what you think. they are 15x7 +10. best part is, they only weight 13.3 pounds.

If i get them the center will be painted bronze or goldish color how i have on my wheels now and the lip will be left chrome. I think that will look pretty sick.

I am not sure exactly what brand but since it will be used as my street wheels and most likely not on the track it should be okay. I will then use the stock wheels for drifting. I already have a set of old bfg's that I can run down, I will put my yokohama s drives on the new wheels.

I've never run on V700s, I'll let you know. I'm not expecting miracles out of them. Like I said, these are for my wife to run at a novice school. The requirements are "cheap" and "wear like iron." Also, it will slow the car down some / take some of the edge off of it. When we run on Sunday, we'll have the slicks :)

EDIT: Unless it's raining. Which it will be. Eff.

have you checked m.net faqs yet?

okay maff. thanks for the info. It's because I am looking for some better street/track tires. the s drives i have now are okay but I easily push them to the limit and end up drifting. Which is fun because I like drifting but not so good when I am trying to get better lap times.
of course that may also be because my suspension set up and the way I drive it but it's obvious that wider wheels/tires has a much larger effect on grip. which Is why i was looking at getting some 15x8 wheels before, I had looked at getting goodwin racings package that is konig wideopens 15x8 with toyo r888 205/50/15. but at that price I will have to wait quite a long time to be able to afford it. and if I got that package it will be a dedicated track set. as opposed to a street/track set.

Star Specs? I hear nothing but good things about them.

Fffuuuuuuuuu

Battery is dead again.... Guess the amp wired to switched power is no bueno

Did a little autocrossing:

Bled the brakes in preparation for the track this weekend. Then decided to try and figure out why my left rear is generated so much more brake does than all the other wheels and that pad is worn twice as much as the other side. Ended up breaking the slider pin off in the caliper bracket :(

Today we my Miata to the autocross. We arrived, I hopped on the trailer and attempted to start the car to back it off the trailer and she had apparently lost the fire. Jen and I drove a friend's daily driver supercharged CRX, then put the ramps back on the trailer and towed the rig back home. Pushed it off the trailer and backed it into the garage, and called it a day.

Like a dumb@$$ I didn't put anything to cover the electronics while towing, and I think the ignitor got wet. Hopefully after it dries out in the garage for a day or 2, it'll fire up. Hopefully. If not... well, expensive lesson learned. We'll see.

On the upside, Jen drove the car at the Novice School yesterday and had. a. BLAST. Instructors got "fun runs" during the lunch break, and even on clapped out Kumho V700s, the thing is just silly fun to drive. I gave a couple of the novices that I'd instructed earlier in the day rides and there was a lot of "dude... holy crap!," wide smiles and laughter. Hopefully we got a few folks addicted :D

I've done that to a caliper. These things happen. Fortunately, they are not difficult to come by.

thanks. I will do some research on those.

dam, mx-p5, how many times is that now?

it's cool to see you still had a good time even though you couldn't run your car.

3 times

i've done something different each time to see what's going on

First time was stereo removed but amp left hooked up and no remote wire hooked up

second was stereo removed, amp hooked up, and wired to the switched power source to turn it on/off

now i've got the stereo removed still and just disconnected the amp all together, so if i last more than a week this time i'll know that was the problem

If so, i'll have to put in a manual switch to turn the amp on and off (which i left space for on my gauge panel)

Drove mine to NJ and back. **** that noise. I hate long roadtrips in that car.

Phen, your number change? I texted ya over the weekend for your address. I keep forgetting about shipping out that gauge pod to ya

Finally got to drive with the top down for the first time since I got home. Loving the short shifter I installed yesterday, feels great.

SitRep: The battery doesn't have enough juice to turn the starter right now, but the MS powers on and primes the fuel pump.

The battery is on the charger now. I think I ran it down yesterday trying to start the car that wouldn't start and neglected to charge it overnight. Hopefully a fresh charge is all it takes now :)
