What have you done to your Miata today?

I showed her off a bit at a meet today, then spent two hours ragging on my engine bay. Looks much better now. Oh and I installed a horn. Thats right, a horn. lol

I think you got that cleaning the engine thing backwards. You clean the engine before showing it to your buddies at a meet. Ask me how I know.

As for the horn, I think that was a good idea, if you didn't have one. I've more than once had to alert someone in an 18 wheeler, etc that I was down below and passing because they couldn't see me. They were starting to come over on my side. One day, it did no good. The trucker pushed me over into the median and never did get back over. I was in my new Miata, then. Fortunately, no damage was done; but, I did make sure I let that guy know I was there when I did pass him. I should have called his boss; but, it was an accident, I'm sure. Our cars are just hard to see by taller vehicles.

I know what you mean. I might change my mind. Went to a car meet this morning and a few people told me the same thing. It's starting to grow on me. Will see in 2 weeks.

Thanks for the input

There you go. I put red inserts in my new seat covers when I really prefer all black. Why? Most of the people I asked thought the red would really set them off. They do; but, I'd still prefer black. The idea is to get points in a car show, though. My opinion means little if the judges don't agree with me.

Cause and effect my friend lol. I cleaned it up because it was pointed out to me at the meet. This way it'll be ready to go for the next one.

I already had one, i just got a louder one, with a lower tone for the same reason. We are very hard to see.

My daughter started showing a Fox body Mustang, last year. It's one she and her hubby picked up for a decent price. However, no matter how much we told her she needed to get her car's engine cleaned, it never got done. I know she got frustrated at her hubby for not cleaning it. I told her to hire someone! She never did and kept the hood down, which lost points. This year, they're doing a few things to the car to make it look better, to include cleaning the engine. I think she wants some trophies, this time. Her mom is already winning with her car. Her mom's hubby makes sure her car is ready to go for her, on top of having to get his own ready.

Took some bad pictures of the race car in the garage after a long weekend hunting cones. It looks much 'better' in person if that make sense. W/ the lighting and flash all the dirt / scratches are kind of emphasized... in person they don't show as bad. They're still there and give it character (that's right, I said it). It looks like a race car should in person ;). FWIW, we towed the car back in the rain on Sunday on an open trailer, and it was rained on Friday and Saturday nights, so it actually doesn't look *too* bad all things considered lol

PS: all of the non-official decals (Mazda Motorsports / SCCA Solo / Tire Rack / Bridgestone stuff) were done by my buddy Barry (Jackelope on the forums). He does great work, hit him up.

EDIT: for those who don't know, before everyone starts asking: the ding on the nose was done by the previous owner. Looks like he ran under a trailer hitch.

Scored my first national trophy at the SCCA Dixie National Tour this past weekend (4 of 15) in CSP....the first notable trophy that I and the car have received. I am definately down on power from the front runners, but for the two days combined, I was only 1.5 seconds out of the lead spot. That's not to mention the top 3 have been known to rack in several national level wins before. In the end, the car feels fantastic and is a ton of fun to drive and I'm happy with its and my performance. More speed to come soon....

Andrew...I was gonna actually ask you about the eat/sleep/cone decal...that one is pretty funny. I'll have to hit up Barry one of these days.

Kev....right on man!! Lets get a pic of the spoils!!!

The painter called this morning. I went over and inspected the paint. It looks good. I've paid the guy and will bring it home, later today. For the price, I can't complain one bit. I've got some cleaning to do, even though he did tidy it up, some. It needed it, anyway, for show appearance. I'll have photos when all is done.

Car sounds great Andrew...bouncing the rev limiter sounds fun...I can't really do that anymore with the turboyata...I mean I wind her up but man I am scared to blow the motor again....LOL.

I miss my miata....

Finally got around to making my charge pipe look better. I chopped out an ugly weld and put in a hump hose to keep it from banging around when the engine moves. ground down some of the other welds and powdercoated it silver. I was hoping the color would match the other pipe but it came out darker then what I had hoped for.
Here is a picture of my dirty dirty engine bay.

For me, it was clean, clean, clean. It's amazing where sanding dust can go. I got much of the interior done, finally. The new doorsills, console cover, and gas cap cover are installed. The seats are back in. The interior is in pretty good shape, now. I still need to install the vent bevels and front mud guards. The trunk is next. What a mess that is. The bad thing about new paint is that it makes everything else look bad. :'(

I did drop the top for the first time since I've owned the car, though. It was so nice, we went for a drive. That little V8 sounds even better with the top down.

New 'street' wheels. Going to put full tread tires for use as transport / rains. They're Team Dynamic Motorsports Pro Race 1.2s, 15x7. Local SCCA T3 guy that was selling the race car was getting rid of them. They have never been mounted on a car before and are absolutely immaculate. I think the anthracite will look good on the black. Got them at used price for essentially brand new wheels

EDIT: The tires on there in the pics were the dude's rain tires. I've currently got some nearly dead RE-01Rs on there for the Evo School in Atlanta next month, but the full tread 195 RE11s will be going on after that / once I get tire money from my last co-driver.
