What have you done to your Miata today?

a friend hooked it up with a awesome discount code so now i am registered to run the NB on feb 19 at horse thief. I have to do 1 or 2 beginner sessions with an instructor per rules of extremespeed but non the less I am really exited to be able to finally run it on a actual track. :)

took her for a little drive fir a few hours enjoying the weather

also took a little clip

And yes, I realize I shifted too early intheupoergears

yeah your car is a sleeper for sure. for now I want to keep my motor stock and see how far I can take the chassis and suspension. but I am doing that mainly because I am poor, lol

Stephanie at BEGi confirmed that I can't use the ECU from another MSM, the immobilizer will kick in after 2 starts and then you're "locked down".

Hmmm sounds too smart. What are you supposed to do if your ECU gets fried?

that is a load of crap. . . .

Yep, and rather well documented on mazda-speed.com. However... the immobilizer system is made by Lucas... so it probably won't work in the end anyway...

had to replace the driveshaft in my miata a couple weeks ago. Turns out the squeak i have been hearing for a very long time was the rubber boots on the u-joint. It turned into a serious vibration at 70-80mph. The front u-joint ended up locking up in one direction.

D'oh! Glad they're pretty easy to replacel. Also glad you didn't have a catastrophic event...

yep i think it was a 20min replacment, biggest pain was having to go up and down on the lift to rotate the shaft each time i needed to get to the bolts. Right after it started vibrating i started driving the p5, just so i didnt try to pole vault the miata

i *had* the 99/00 garage vary lip. I broke it pulling onto a lift at work though i think i have on on the way because the person who was repairing mine ended up having his room mate back over it. Not too highly concerned because i will probably be selling the car later this year

So I did an oil change and completed the tech inspection sheet. Now I am ready for the track on Sunday :)

had a new symptom to start up issues

Put the key in, turned it to on, got the "PoP" sound, but then went to start and it was like a dead battery

turned the key 3-4 times with the same result, nothing

then 5th time and it turned over like normal

gonna go get the battery tested after work just to see if that is the problem
