What have you done to your Miata today?

lulz...

I was browsing the for sale threads on other forums and found a Titanium Grey (my color) OEM hardtop... sigh

maybe by the end of the year

If I hear/feel a slight thump shortly after starting the car, and it seems to be coming from the hydraulic system... does it follow that I should do a brake fluid flush? I suppose, it couldn't hurt, even if it's not causing the thump.

Does it happen whether or not you actually crank the car? Because if it's the ABS pump it cycles even if you put the key into on without hitting the starter.

No it's a few seconds after the car starts. And I'm pretty sure my car doesn't have ABS.

Then why would starting your car have any effect on the brake system, except putting a vacuum on the booster, which doesn't actually affect the brakes? I think you're putting the clunk on the wrong culprit.

Other ideas?

Without anything other to go on other than "something clunks a few seconds after starting the car"... not really. Maybe a bad engine mount? Other than that, I got no idea. Get under the hood and have someone start it and shut it off a few times so you can get it tracked down.

Hmm, no don't think it's a mount. If that were the case, it would clunk all the time, while driving.

It's almost the feeling of the AC compressor kicking on, but I believe it does it even when the AC is off.

hey Maff, don't happen to have Dori's old headlight assemblies do ya? Looking for stockers to replace the brainstorms

Nope. About the only stock body work I have that's not on-car currently are the doors / mirrors. The motors, linkages and buckets all got sold, and the barn-doors are bolted to the hood.

Phen said there might be an issue with the immobilizer, just wanna make sure it would work before I get one. The plan is to have one as a backup so I can send one to BEGi to get reflashed and still have something to drive.

I sent an email to Stephanie to make sure
