What have you done to your Miata today?

I've been doing some research and I think it likely that I didn't do a good enough job sealing the baffle covers after I put the stainless pot scrubbers in them. I'll pull the valve cover tomorrow.

I've also read that, good luck!

Drove it to Burger King for lunch and had 2 guys compliment me on my RX7. . . . .

Bought a used engine (1.6L, long-nose), transmission (5spd), PPF, drive axle, VLSD, rear subframe, half-shafts, and suspension links for $400, engine runs well and all the bits are apparently in decent shape. Because race car.

Took my first night drive with the HIDs. Lighting is now officially awesome. One thing to note is that I do not have the high beam indicator, I'll have to take a look at the wiring diagram to see why that might be.

Sounds like a pretty excellent deal if all is well with the parts.

They seem to be pretty good. Everything will need de-rusting and painting, but it's in way better shape than my rear subframe and suspension links. A friend of mine, paranoid about his short-nose crank, has bought the 200k mile long-nose engine for $200 plus his 85k mile short-nose crank engine... I think I made out okay!

I bought a set of Tuckin' 99 fender braces yesterday, they are on their way. Will I have the time to install before heading back to work? We'll see.

Supposed to be second week of January, however the Coast Guard screwed up my documents when I renewed them and I'm waiting to hear back from them that they will correct it. I can't go anywhere until I get those done.

getting tougher and tougher to start. .

Fires up fine in the morning, but after being parked for more than 5 minutes, when turning the key, i hear a pressure surge and a "pop/psshhh" and the fuel pump only flicker for a second then nothing. . . Go to start and the engine barely turns over, and when it does, it shakes and vibrates like it's missing for about 30 seconds then levels out and is ok again. . .

any ideas?

I still drive mine every day and I love it! the blizzaks actually got rid of the 40 & 70MPH vibrations. No issues turning on in the morning considering it's been pretty cold lately

Fender braces arrived today, seller included his scissors and tape in the box! Gotta send them back. Went out to lunch with the wife and some friends, got rained on coming home. It was amazing how many people can't drive in the wet.

The 8" Bose door woofers on my '99 had sounded scratchy/grindy since I got the car (just before Christmas) so I assumed they were blown and was prepared to buy new woofers. But I happened upon a thread on Miata net about a DIY repair that a member had stumbled upon. Basically you pry loose the magnet from the center and rotate it until you find a spot that doesn't drag and re-epoxy the magnet in place. For the cost of the epoxy, the woofers are good as new! So if you have an NB with scratchy Bose woofers, don't throw them out (unless you just want different speakers!)

Really? Hmm... Mine don't sound too aweful, but then again, I have a hard time hearing them over the exhaust. LOL.

I think it was a problem on the earlier Bose woofers. I think they changed the design at some point to correct the issue.

Gotcha. Ultimately, I'd want to change mine out, but at the same time, I don't know how much more of her temperamental bulls*** I can take.
